Lainey Wilson has picked up a history-making nine nods for the 2023 CMA Awards, making her the first artist to top the list of nominations in her first two appearances on the final ballot.
It's a momentous but arguably unsurprising feat for the ‘Watermelon Moonshine’ songsmith, with Lainey having enjoyed a stellar year filled with No. 1 singles and blockbuster performances.
Amongst her nine nominations, Lainey has notched her first ever nod for the biggest award of the evening, 2023 Entertainer of the Year. She's joined in that star-studded category by Luke Combs, Chris Stapleton, Carrie Underwood and Morgan Wallen.
Lainey Wilson's introspective earworm, ‘Heart Like A Truck’, has earned her a nomination for Single of the Year, while her dark, ominous and newly Platinum-certified HARDY collaboration, ‘wait in the truck’, also features in the same category.
In addition, Lainey Wilson's sprawling list of 2023 CMA Awards nominations includes a nod for Album of the Year (Bell Bottom Country), Song of the Year (‘Heart Like A Truck’), ‘Female Vocalist of the Year and Music Video of the Year (‘wait in the truck’).
Lainey appears twice in the Musical Event of the Year category, with the country megastar receiving nominations for both ‘Save Me’ with Jelly Roll and ‘wait in the truck’ with HARDY.
Although not as ground-breaking as Lainey Wilson's unrivalled nine nominations, Jelly Roll has notched an impressive five nods, while Luke Combs and HARDY settle on four apiece.
The 2023 CMA Awards are due to take place on Wednesday, November 8 in Nashville, with Luke Combs looking to defend his title as Entertainer of the Year against an array of challengers that includes the likes of Morgan Wallen, Chris Stapleton and Carrie Underwood.
At the other end of the spectrum, many artists will arrive in Music City with their first ever nomination under their belt, including Megan Moroney, The War and Treaty and Zach Bryan.
