Just when you thought Post Malone's foray into country music couldn't get any better, his freshly dropped F-1 Trillion came accompanied by the surprise F-1 Trillion - Long Bed.
This deluxe version of Malone's country debut consists of 9 more tracks, a batch of new solo offerings from the hitmaker and a departure from the original F-1 Trillion's star-studded lineup.
One of the album's surplus songs, 'Two Hearts,' is among the collection's most heart-wrenching numbers. The tune about broken hearts and broken homes is a strikingly intimate offering from the party anthem pro.
From the beginning, the fiddle-flecked 'Two Hearts' is a doozy before Malone even opens his mouth. The song comes to life in a gentle sweep of strings, and from there, blooms into a despondent display of weepy steel and distant rhythms.
In the end, 'Two Hearts' provides a stunning soundtrack against which a heartbreaking scene unfolds.
Used to be two cars sittin' in the drive
You had your dog and I had mine
Two sets of keys on a hook by the front door
But this house don't look like home no more
Throughout 'Two Hearts', Malone takes stock of "used to be's." There used to be two cars in the driveway, two dogs on the couch, two keys for a home that used to house one love.
But the thing about "used to be's" is, they no longer exist. Now, one car parks beside a lonely oil stain, one dog naps alone, and a spare key becomes just that: a spare.
White picket fence, fresh coat of paint
Blacktop drive done turned to grey
You lose it all when there's nothin' to lose
That's what happens when two hearts break in two
'Two Hearts' chronicles a breakup, the worst kind. When two lives merge into one, there is rarely a clean break once such a relationship shatters. There are other things at stake. He sings of two little girls and custody battles, salted wounds and a year of silence, saying "That's what happens when two hearts break in two."
For sale sign in our front yard
We only get half of what used to be ours
You lose it all when there's nothin' to lose
Baby, that's what happens when two hearts break in two
Malone sings of assets divided and a hard-built life dissolved. He chronicles moving back in with his parents and trying his best not think of a used-to-be love but...
Baby, that's what happens when two hearts break in two.
Post Malone has not spoken about 'Two Hearts’ specifically just yet, but the Texas native has touched more broadly on how welcoming the country music community has been to him since he announced his foray into the genre.
In an interview with Anthony Mason for CBS in Nashville, the ‘Chemical’ singer-songwriter shared, “Everyone here was so accepting and kind”. When Mason described this as a testament to Post Malone's genial, warm character, Posty immediately responded with an endearing dismissal, “I disagree. I think it's a testament to them”.

Sweet little girls, only two and three
They can't even spell "custody"
Oh, a year gone by and we still don't talk
One big open wound still pourin' on salt
For sale sign in our front yard
We only get half of what used to be ours
You lose it all when there's nothin' to lose
Baby, that's what happens when two hearts break in two
There's a leak in my mama's house
That's right above where I'm sleepin' now
Dad's old shotgun still on the wall
Tryin' not to give it a second thought
Hot sun beatin' through them dusty blinds
Only everything's what used to be mine
You lose it all when there's nothin' to lose
Baby, that's what happens when two hearts break in two
