Over the last handful of years, Luke Combs has become one of the leading figures in country music, and rightfully so.
With his new Category 10 bar ready to make landfall later this summer, a a blockbuster list of shows on his Growin' Up and Gettin' Old Tour and, with any luck, a new album in the works, Combs is adding another exciting thing to the docket as the Country Music Hall of Fame & Museum unveil its newest exhibit in honor of the superstar himself.
Opening its doors on Thursday, July 11, the new display, titled The Man I Am, will be open through June 15, 2025.
Exploring Combs' life and career, the exhibit will trace the 'Hurricane' singer's story from singing in his school choirs in North Carolina through headlining stadiums all around the world.
Among the items available to take a peek at will be various stage wear, tour memorabilia, manuscripts, set lists, instruments, photographs, posters, childhood memorabilia and more. Specific things of interest include his Martin GPCPA4 Sapele acoustic guitar that the entertainer used extensively at his early performances; a signed CD-R Combs’ debut EP, The Way She Rides; the original manuscript of Combs' beloved single, 'Six Feet Apart;' his high school football jerseys and much more.
“Once I decided I wanted to do music as a career, it didn’t matter if it was for 100 people or 1,000 people, I just wanted to be playing country music for anyone who would listen,” Combs explains as he announced the new exhibit. “If I could have enough fans to call it a job, I was set. Other than that, I never dreamed of being featured in the Country Music Hall of Fame & Museum, much less having my own exhibit; that was beyond my wildest dreams. But honestly, it’s all a credit to my fans, family, songwriters and team. I have only made it to where I am today because of them, and this honor is one of my most humbling yet. At my core I love country music and this exhibit is as prestigious of an honor as it gets.”
To ring in the opening of the new Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum exhibit, the venue's CMA Theater will host a special writers’ round featuring Combs and his frequent collaborators, Ray Fulcher, James McNair, Drew Parker and Rob Williford. The event will take place on July 11 at 2:30pm as we the crew performs some of Combs' biggest hits to date, as well as share the stories behind them.
