Luke Combs’ Growin’ Up and Gettin’ Old tour goes from strength to strength in 2024, with the North Carolina hitmaker's shows feeling more like mini-festivals than regular concerts.

After an eventful double-header in Cincinnati - which included the hilarious moment Luke Combs punished his Fantasy Football League losers by making them sing in front of the 60,000-strong crowd - Luke is now gearing up for two shows in Houston, Texas.

Although not a staple of every setlist, we're thinking the ‘When It Rains It Pours’ singer-songwriter will treat attendees to a live rendition of his older fan-favourite, ‘Houston, We Got a Problem’, during at least one of his Texas tour-stops this weekend.

When playing a Friday and Saturday show back-to-back this year, Luke Combs has been switching up his set each night, as well as giving audience-members the chance to vote for one song they want to hear. Across both shows, ticket-holders can look forward to hearing Luke providing electrifying performances of all his biggest hits, from the lovestruck, rose-tinted ‘Beautiful Crazy’ and ‘Forever After All’ to the rowdy, raucous ‘Beer Never Broke My Heart’ and ‘1, 2 Many’. From time to time, Luke has even been performing his tempestuous new Twisters: The Album anthem, ‘Ain't No Love in Oklahoma’, which features in the 2024 film of the same name.

Doors open at Houston's famous NRG Stadium at 5pm. However, if you're wanting to get the good times rolling a little sooner, there'll be a Whiskey Jam x Bootleggers Tailgate Party kicking off at 3pm - but only on the second night (Saturday, August 10).

These events feature music and early access to merchandise, food and drink. The line-up has now been announced, with Ryan Larkins and Walker Montgomery due to get attendees in the mood for the huge stadium sets later that night. All of Luke Combs’ tailgate extravaganzas are free to those with tickets to the main show.

Luke Combs doesn't tend to hit the stage until around 9pm, with his set generally lasting for the best part of two hours. Thankfully, though, ou won't have to wait until 9pm before hearing some fantastic live music, with Luke compiling an impressive bill of opening acts for both his Friday and Saturday night shows in Houston.

On Friday, August 9, Luke Combs will be supported by Cody Jinks, Charles Wesley Godwin, Hailey Whitters and The Wilder Blue, and on Saturday, August 10, the openers will be Jordan Davis, Mitchell Tenpenny, Drew Parker and Colby Acuff. The roster comprises a refreshingly eclectic mix of artists that have been cherry-picked from the country-pop, alt-country, Americana and outlaw country spaces.

Luke Combs’ two NRG Stadium dates are - unsurprisingly - sold-out, but there is a broad selection of resale tickets still available, stretching from around $39 into the thousands. Rather than trying to squeeze every last penny from his supporters, Luke makes an effort to keep the base-price of tickets affordable - compared to other artists - a move than reinforces the bearded crooner's ‘for the fans’ reputation.

Luke Combs’ expansive 2024 Growin’ Up and Gettin’ Old run is one of the most popular country tours out there today, and as a result, he usually faces no shortage of celebrities and sports stars wanting to swing by. Sometimes, Luke even treats the audience to a surprise guest or two, bringing out the cast of Twisters in New York and two San Francisco 49ers players in California. We'll be keeping a close watch to see if anyone emerges during his hotly anticipated Houston shows.

Regardless, judging by the spine-tingling performances he put on in San Antonio a few months ago - the last time he was in Texas - fans can expect another couple of top-tier sets when Luke Combs and his band roll into Houston this weekend.
