Dasha - ‘Like It Like That’

Release Date: August 22, 2025

Album: TBC

Songwriter:

Producer:

The Background:

If 2024 was the year that Dasha was shoved into the country music limelight, 2025 is the year that she earns her stripes and proves her mettle.

From one release to another as she readies her highly-anticipated sophomore country record later this fall, the California native has delivered a pair of instant earworms–one infectious and one utterly bruising in the best possible way. Kicking off the year with the rip roaring 'Not At This Party,' Dasha followed it up with a heart-wrenching letter to her younger self in 'Oh, Anna!'

More than showing that she's far beyond a one hit wonder or flash in the pan, it's evident that Dasha is so much more than just 'Austin' as she releases the third single from the forthcoming record, called 'Like It Like That.'

The Sound:

A seductive little number from the country-pop prodigy, 'Like It Like That' opens with shaking group claps, a bright guitar and a booming kick drum as Dasha's sultry vocals swoop in and steal the show.

With a twangy banjo entering the ranks and a powerful bass line for good measure, it's a little under three minutes of pure, ear catching fun as she recounts a relationship that she can't quite seem to kick.

The Meaning:

"Baby you ain’t a keeper
I should probably throw you right back in
I don’t know how to read you
When I push away you pull me back in
You’re a mess but I cleaned it
Said, 'I ain’t never doing this again'
But I left the door unlocked
Saved you a spot
See you around 2 AM"

Our narrator begins by instantly admitting that the object–or in this case person–of her fascination probably isn't the settle down and live happily ever after type. Knowing that she should likely cut and run, it seems as though she's unable to break ties with this guy... and we're not convinced she's trying so hard anyway.

He might be a little banged up and in bad shape metaphorically speaking, but she always finds herself keeping her options open and letting him right back in to continue this little lust-filled cycle.

"Boots are on the bed
Smokin’ on a red
Hungover again
but I ain’t done
Gimmie little names
Playing little games
Drivin’ me insane but it’s so fun
Got a list that goes on and on
Of all the things I shouldn’t want but I do
And man I do
Mmm mmm

Yeah I like it like that
I need it like that
You must be doing something keep me coming right back
I want it like that
I need it like that
I do
I do do do"

Caught in the aftermath of their wild night, their clothes are strewn about as they share a cigarette and attempt to nurse their hangovers from hell.

Doing plenty of relationship like things–little pet names and whatnot–the singer is left feeling crazy as they're cosplaying being in a committed partnership even though they both know that's not what this is.

And try as she might, our narrator wouldn't have it any other way.

"Lost your job ain’t a problem
Baby let me fill up that tank
Bring the stress, bring the drama
But you’re doing what the other boys can’t
He’s got some bad tattoos and he drives too fast
And I might be going crazy thinking this could last
But the door’s unlocked
Saved you a spot
See you around 2 AM"

As we get into the second verse, we find out more and more about this guy in question... and honestly, he seems like a deadbeat.

He's recently lost his job, seems to have little to no income and makes pretty questionable choices, but our singer takes it all in stride, urging him to bring the stress and drama unto her life.

Regardless of all of the red flags violently waving in her face, she's still hooked on him and will be waiting to repeat their usual rendezvous again and again.

"Boots are on the bed
Smokin’ on a red
Hungover again
but I ain’t done
Gimmie little names
Playing little games
Drivin’ me insane but it’s so fun
Got a list that goes on and on
Of all the things I shouldn’t want but I do
And man I do
Mmm mmm"

What has Dasha said about 'Like It Like That'?

Throughout her discography thus far, Dasha has never shied away from accepting that she doesn't have it all figured out.

Humbly accepting that her 20s are partly for fucking around and finding out, she's always remained true to herself and looked to impart whatever wisdom she gains along the way into her devoted fanbase. The same is true for 'Like It Like That.'

”‘Like It Like That’ is about letting go of that pressure to get love ‘right’ and embracing the moments that don’t fit the plan," the artist tells Holler. "At this point in my life, I’m not trying to have it all figured out—sometimes the so-called wrong person is exactly right for right now.”
