When it comes to being prolific in the modern country and rock landscape, it's difficult to beat HARDY. While putting together his much-loved all-star HIXTAPE Vol. 3: DIFFTAPE project, he announced that he was preparing his first official rock album.

Now, excitingly, HARDY has revealed the official tracklist and release date for QUIT!!, with the genre-fusing project set to arrive on July 12th. It'll feature appearances from The Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Chad Smith, Limp Bizkit's Fred Durst and Knox.

Alongside the announcement, HARDY dropped ‘PSYCHO’ with a cinematic set of visuals, starring the Mississippi artist as an ex who's been submitted to a mental institution. A portion of the proceeds from the video will be donated to “charitable organizations whose purpose is to help educate, inform and support mental health”.

The lead single, ‘QUIT!!’, arrived in tandem with HARDY's celebrated short film, Becoming THE CROW, and revolves a part-rap, part-spoken-word recollection of a performance early on in the ‘A Rock’ singer-songwriter's career, after which an attendee wrote ‘QUIT!!’ on a napkin. HARDY admitted he went on to frame the napkin in his home, and uses it to fuel his fire when he hits the recording studio. This even serves as the inspiration behind the keenly awaited album's artwork.

In February 2024, he followed up ‘QUIT!!’ by dropping the pop-punk anthem, ‘ROCKSTAR’, accompanied by an innovative, shape-shifting video in which HARDY plays the roles of various classic ‘rockstars’, such as The Beatles, Limp Bizkit, Queen and more.

In an Audacy interview the following month, HARDY confirmed the title of the new album would be QUIT!!, as well as hinting at what fans can look forward to from the record.

HARDY touched on the album's inspiration, “It's kind of all over the place. I'm not even gonna lie to you, it's just a look inside of my brain attempting to write Rock songs, you know what I mean? There's a lot of it that's like ‘ROCKSTAR,’ which is like pop punk, you know? If you call it that, maybe hardcore or whatever you wanna call that. But, like, then there's some stuff that's similar to my old record that has, like, a Country lyric over a really Rock N’ Roll, like sonically a Rock N’ Roll song”.

The ‘One Beer’ hitmaker stressed that QUIT!! will be deeply eclectic, “It's the most different and just a hodgepodge of, I don't know, just what's inside my brain. But it's up and down and left and right and all over the place, but I'm really excited about it. There's gonna be some features on it, but no death metal, nothing like that. Not yet, at least. But there's a couple of songs – like my heaviest song is on this record, like, it'll be the heaviest thing I've done so far”.

Excitingly, although QUIT!! will undoubtedly be laced with the ferocity, angst and intensity that HARDY infused into the latter half of 2023's widely acclaimed the mockingbird & THE CROW, he also emphasised there will be also be some rare romantic offerings, “There's even a couple of love songs, which I haven't really done before…I think that I'm just experimenting and I'm just making the music that I like to make, and I think if it sounds cool, then let's put it on the record”.

It seems he's referring to the final track on the album, titled in honour of his wife, ‘SIX FEET UNDER (Cayleigh's Song)’, and perhaps even the twisted love-story of ’PSYCHO’.

With HARDY, it's always a challenge to predict what the mercurial, genre-blending maverick will do next - but judging from the singles so far, we can expect it to be awesome.
