It's been a phenomenal year for Americana and all its many creators, underpinned by the top-tier collection of nominees at this year's 23rd Annual Americana Honors & Awards.
Set to once again take place at Nashville's historic Ryman Auditorium, the ceremony will be held on September 18 as the keystone event of the beloved AMERICANAFEST schedule, running from September 17-21.
Ahead of this year's events, Holler favorites Tyler Childers and Sierra Ferrell each received an impressive three nominations for Song of the Year, Album of the Year and the highest honor of the evening, Artist of the Year, which also sees Charley Crockett, Allison Russell and folk sensation Noah Kahan in contention.
Childers' recognitions come for his evocative 'In Your Love,' as well as the album it spawns from, Rustin' In The Rain. Similarly, Ferrell's 'American Dreaming' enjoys its nomination for Song of the Year, as well as her 2024 record, Trail of Flowers.
Also collecting multiple nods is industry stalwart Brandy Clark, who will try to lay claim to Song of the Year ('Dear Insecurity' feat. Brandi Carlile) and Album of the Year (Brandy Clark).
Other inclusions in the Album of the Year category include Hurray for the Riff Raff's The Past Is Still Alive and Jason Isbell and the 400 Unit's Weathervanes. Meanwhile, the Song of the Year category also includes Sarah Jarosz's 'Jealous Moon' and Waxahatchee's 'Right Back To It,' featuring MJ Lenderman.
The Emerging Act of the Year nominees are especially interesting this year as they feature several familiar faces and Holler favorites, including Charles Wesley Godwin, Wyatt Flores and The Red Clay Strays, as well as Kaitlin Butts and Jobi Riccio. Similarly, the Duo/Group of the Year offerings feature the lauded Turnpike Troubadours, Larkin Poe, Black Pumas, The Milk Carton Kids and the reigning champions, The War And Treaty.
With such a star-studded group expected to be in attendance, it's not a far reach to say that the performers at the 2024 Honors & Awards will also include some of the genre's best and brightest.
Among the most anticipated will be a variety of award-winning legends, buzzworthy new artists and longtime fan favorites like Dwight Yoakam, , Larkin Poe, The Milk Carton Kids and Sarah Jarosz. Several of the night's esteemed nominees will also be taking the stage for special performances, including Godwin, Butts, Kahan, Ferrell, Turnpike Troubadours, The War And Treaty, Waxahatchee with MJ Lenderman and Flores.
Beyond that, the ceremony will see a swath of beloved acts be honored with various Lifetime Achievement Awards, isuch as the Blind Boys of Alabama, Dave Alvin, Don Was, Yoakam, Rev. Gary Davis and Shelby Lynne.
