After teasing us throughout the week with a series of steamy clips and tantalising snippets, Riley Green has now released the full music video for his current single, ‘Worst Way’.
The Alabama hitmaker has often quipped that the sultry track serves as only his second solo love-song, following his earlier fan-favourite, ‘When She Comes Home Tonight’, with Riley Green joking that he tends to steer clear of romance in his songwriting.
However, for the newly unveiled ‘Worst Way’ music video, Riley Green has leaned into his blossoming reputation as country music's leading heartthrob, with the ‘I Wish Grandpas Never Died’ showcasing his acting prowess with the playful set of visuals.
Much of the ‘Worst Way’ video draws inspiration from a film that Riley Green has previously cited as one of his all-time favourites, the classic 1988 romantic comedy, Bull Durham, starring two Hollywood legends, Kevin Costner and Susan Sarandon.
Riley Green pays tribute to Kevin Costner's character in Bull Durham, with the ‘You Look Like You Love Me’ chart-topper delivering an amusing homage to one of Costner's particularly iconic ‘Crash’ Davis scenes with Susan Sarandon's Annie Savoy.
Green enjoys his cereal in the kitchen, donning one of his trademark dressing gowns, mirroring Costner when chatting to Sarandon, who sits atop one of the counters. Riley Green strikes a balance between light-hearted and romantic, with sensual shots of the ‘Don't Mind If I Do’ singer-songwriter in the bedroom interspersed throughout.
‘Worst Way’, which appears on both Riley Green's widely lauded Way Out Here EP and his celebrated October album, Don't Mind If I Do, was sent to Country Radio on February 10th.
With the added boost from this music video, combined with the ongoing virality of the track, it's expected to follow in the footsteps of Green's momentous collaboration with Ella Langley, ‘You Look Like You Love Me’, and hit No. 1 in the coming months.
