Elizabeth Nichols has kicked off the new instalment of the Holler Nashville Sessions, presented by Montana Silversmiths, by performing her viral earworm, ‘I Got a New One’.
The wonderfully playful offering, which arrived in December, has been spreading rapidly across TikTok and has already amassed over 10 million streams on Spotify alone.
In the acoustic setting of this Holler Nashville Session, presented by Montana Silversmiths, Elizabeth Nichols’ witty, captivating songwriting is brought deservingly to the fore.
The enchanting track finds Nichols regaling listeners with the tale of a few fleeting romances, each of which ends with the boyfriend turning out to be possessive, controlling or insecure, and as a result, Nichols dryly reveals, “So I went and got a new one”.
Despite touching on toxic relationships, ‘I Got a New One’ is pervaded by refreshingly light-hearted twists and amusing moments, with Nichols crooning, “And his name is Charlie / Got a handlebar stash and a Harley / Keeps a bottle opener on his car keys”.
‘I Got a New One’ serves as the opener for Nichols’ debut EP, Tough Love, which arrived today (Friday, June 20th) and also features fan-favourites such as ‘Somebody Cooked Here’ and ‘Mama’. It's a compelling, varied seven-song mission statement underlining why Nichols is being widely tipped as a future star of country music.
Recorded in Nashville, Tennessee in early June 2025, the Holler Nashville Sessions, presented by Montana Silversmiths, act as a celebration of some of the most exciting up-and-coming voices in the contemporary country and Americana landscape.
