It's a collaboration so perfect it feels like we must have dreamed it up. Cosmic country desert disco DJs Flying Mojito Bros reworking the Swamp Fox, Tony Joe White’s catalogue, including his '80s dance explorations and '70s country funk classics, and taking these songs back to the dancefloor where they belong.
"During the late 70’s and early 80’s, Tony Joe was blending country, swamp and disco into his own recipe of funky dance music," his son Jody White explains. "With some help from the Flying Mojito Bros, these songs are about to see the light of day and the Swamp Fox will carve out another unexplored path of musical experience."
There's no more suitable CV for the job than that of the London based DJ duo. A production partnership whose desert-disco, cosmic country funk and outlaw house sound have been threading classic Americana through modern disco, acid house and club-ready rhythms for over a decade now. Drawing from the deep catalogues of artists like Santana, ZZ Top and the Eagles, their music and edits have earned wide acclaim from Lauren Laverne on BBC 6 Music, while Diplo and Phish have publicly praised their work.
Known for immersive, visual-led DJ sets built largely from their own reworks and unreleased edits, Flying Mojito Bros have played Glastonbury, Bonnaroo, Pikes Ibiza and more, alongside residencies at The Social, Spiritland and Nobu. In 2025 they released their first original album, Just Passing Through, on Ubiquity Records, surpassing a million streams.
"Tony Joe White has been at the heart of our musical universe since day one," the Flying Mojito Bros shared about the collaboration. "Being invited by his son Jody to rework unheard material from what we consider to be Tony Joe’s golden era feels like a fever dream – and a great honour. Our aim is simple: to act as torchbearers for his songwriting, funk power and Southern soul, sensitively bringing our modern electronic muscle to a body of work we revere beyond words. And damn is it danceable!"
The full album, The Swamp Fox, is due for release on 13 March with a release party and DJ set from Flying Mojito Bros at Skinny Dennis in Nashville the day after, but Holler is thrilled to be able to share the first taste of the collaborative project, 'Alligator Stomp,' today.
