Former Michigan Wolverines basketball player, Adrien Nunez, has dropped his highly anticipated debut single, ‘Low Road’, with the music video set to follow over the weekend.
The infectious track finds Adrien Nunez delivering a commanding set of vocals across the bright, easygoing strum of an acoustic guitar, as he reflects on how poorly his ex-lover treated him. He conveys his sense of betrayal throughout the sinuous opening verse, before doubling down on this anguish during the sleek, earworm hook. In a TikTok video posted ahead of ‘Low Road’s release, Nunez explained that the song was inspired by an old flame getting together with one of his team-mates.
Adrien Nunez has been involved in the country scene for a number of months, with the New York native deciding to up sticks and relocate to Nashville to pursue a music career.
Before the arrival of ‘Low Road’, Adrien Nunez had become known across TikTok for his light-hearted, enthusiastic videos paying tribute to his favourite new country songs.
The singer-songwriter's popular videos played a key role in the viral success of Shaboozey's ‘A Bar Song (Tipsy)’, which recently became the longest-running Billboard Hot 100 No. 1 of 2024 so far. Shaboozey's team recently gifted Nunez a Platinum plaque in honour of his integral support en route to the song selling the equivalent of one million units. ’A Bar Song (Tipsy)’ has since been certified triple-Platinum.
Adrien Nunez teased a foray into songwriting earlier in August, releasing ‘Message by Adrien’ where he hinted at forthcoming musi, as well as addressing fans and thanked them for their ongoing support. It remains to be seen whether Nunez has a full-length album or record deal on the way, but if ‘Low Road’ is anything to go by, we're certainly looking forward to seeing what else he has up his sleeve.
