During an interview with Holler, Shaboozey has teased that he has new music on the horizon, with the ‘A Bar Song (Tipsy)’ singer-songwriter seemingly hinting he might have a deluxe version of Where I've Been, Isn't Where I'm Going up his sleeve.

The widely lauded project dropped in May 2024, with the infectious November single, ‘Good News’, the only taste of new music we've been gifted from Shaboozey since.

Excitingly, it looks like we won't have to wait too long before we can add some more heaters from the genre-blending trailblazer to our playlists, with Shaboozey discussing his plans for his next era. The ‘Last Of My Kind’ crooner reflects on what listeners can expect from his forthcoming chapter, “I think this next one is just about kind of digging deeper into the tradition and the history of country music”.

Shaboozey expands on how he is exploring a sound inspired by the “more modern, contemporary country stuff that you would find in Nashville right now. I'm definitely excited to show that. I think it's less conceptual and more just songs I've written that I love a lot, that tell more about who I am and where I am at this moment”.

However, elsewhere during his conversation with Holler, Shaboozey tempered expectations by underlining that, at the moment, he's not working on a full-length studio record.

Although nothing has been confirmed, it seems ‘Good News’ - and the recently teased folk-infused anthem, ‘Blink Twice’, which is already showing signs of early virality on TikTok - may form part of a deluxe version of Where I've Been, Isn't Where I'm Going.

The Virginia native assures listeners there's more on the way, “There's no album currently in the works, but there's definitely something that we're going to give the fans soon. With how successful and how iconic the last project was, I think it's only right that we give that a little bit of something else, and add a little something to that”.

The desire to honour how impactful his Where I've Been, Isn't Where I'm Going era has been is understandable, given the fact that this project has propelled Shaboozey into the upper echelon of not only today's country landscape, but the music scene as a whole.

The record demonstrates Shaboozey's rich artistry as a whole, which digs far beyond the feel-good escapism of ‘A Bar Song (Tipsy)’, with the fast-emerging artist delving into deftly textured themes surrounding the identity of the outlaw, heartbreak, fame and more.

While speaking to Holler, Shaboozey offered another cryptic clue regarding new music, with the ‘Let It Burn’ hitmaker pointing fans in the direction of his Cowboys Live Forever, Outlaws Never Die stand-out, ‘All Men Die (Freestyle)’, which nimbly blurs the lines between Hip-Hop and country, as an indicator as to what's to come.

Shaboozey tantalisingly muses, “It was kind of like ‘A Bar Song (Tipsy)’ - it was the last song I made on a project that was supposed to be turned in and submitted. I think ‘All Men Die’ is a great song that just shows where I would like to sit. You know, I always talk about the similarities between the themes of modern Hip-Hop and old outlaw country music, and I think ‘All Men Die’ does a great job of bridging and tying those worlds together in a way that feels like, is it Hip-Hop, or is it a murder ballad, or a ballad about an outlaw who betrayed their brotherhood, gang or posse?...I think ‘All Men Die’ is going to hint at my future music, honestly”.

We'll have to wait and see exactly what Shaboozey has planned, but with ‘Blink Twice’ picking up steam online, we're keeping our fingers crossed we'll get to hear the full version before too long. If we're lucky, ‘Blink Twice’ might arrive alongside a few other gems, as part of an extended take on Where I've Been, Isn't Where I'm Going.
