Thelma & James recently descended on country music with their smash debut, ‘Happy Ever After You’. At this year's Country Radio Seminar, the duo proved that's not all they have in store for the genre.
The love child of country songstress MacKenzie Porter and her husband, Jake Etheridge, Thelma & James took the radio convention by the heart, unveiling a fresh batch of new music that will soon grace our ears.
Together, they shared unreleased songs, titled 'First Love' and 'Chain Smoking Memories', to a rapt crowd.
The pair have been teasing the former, an aching ballad about falling in love and the fears that accompany such emotions, over social media for the last few weeks.
In the harmonica-peppered number, they sing: "You're not the first ‘I love you’ that I've said or I've been told / But you're the first that has me getting scared of getting old / Yeah, it's the first time I'm pretty sure I'd rather die than give you up / When we're in our ‘80's, I hope He takes me first, love."
Their performance of 'Chain Smoking Memories', though, marked the nostalgia-ridden song's debut. "Hot off the press!" Etheridge heralded the new tune before leaping into the darkly-tinged opus.
Apparently, that's not the only number from Thelma & James that has been freshly inked.
"We have four more that we're in the studio cutting right now," Porter informed the crowd during their showcase. "We have just been writing like crazy and have a whole record. By the fall, we're gonna announce a headlining tour and we're like doing the thing, so it's kind of fun."
There's still so much more to come from this exciting husband-and-wife collaboration.
