During their appearance on the Joe Rogan Experience podcast, The Red Clay Strays confirmed they're planning to drop their keenly awaited third studio album next summer.
Joe Rogan seemingly broke the news by accident, with the podcast host gushing, “The final product is amazing, and the new album is really f***ing good. It’s coming out in June of next year? Is that when it’s supposed to come out? The press thing I got said June of next year, I was like, ‘This should come out now’”.
The Red Clay Strays were hesitant at first, as it dawned on them that Joe Rogan had perhaps jumped the gun by revealing the proposed release date for the project, before the front-man, Brandon Coleman, suggested nothing is set in stone for the time being, “We’re shooting for summer of next year. We don’t really know yet”.
Their bassist, Andy Bishop, joked, “You’re probably the only one that’s supposed to know that”, before Coleman continued by admitting that June is still the objective for now, “We’re still working on mixes. Hopefully June is gonna be the ticket”.
Joe Rogan underlines that fans have a lot to look forward to, “Well...it’s really good. The final product, you guys are very unique. You have a very unique sound and it’s very fun”.
The Red Clay Strays have enjoyed a close friendship from many within the comedy community, such as Joe Rogan and Theo Von, with the latter sharing an Instagram post earlier in the year of him getting a first listen to some of the band's new material.
This will mark the Alabama native's third full-length record, following 2024's Made By These Memories and 2022's Moment of Truth, which spawned the viral ‘Wondering Why’ and suddenly propelled the six-piece into the mainstream.
Given the fact that Made By These Memories was permeated by a distinctly spiritually-minded, faith-filled feel, with The Red Clay Strays eschewing a more traditional country sound for one that leans into the band's Southern Rock roots, it'll be fascinating to see what direction the group goes in for their third record in 2026.
Will they double-down on this Southern Rock style and soulful themes? Or will they explore new territory? The lead single, ’People Hatin’, which drops on Friday, October 3rd and serves as a response to Charlie Kirk's assassination, will tell us more.
With the band changing their lead single last-minute as a result of this, perhaps this is an indication that The Red Clay Strays are crafting a more outward-facing project.
Both Made By These Memories and Moment of Truth were deeply personal, and found Coleman stepping into the shoes of a protagonist who is struggling with a range of doubts and troubles, such as self-confidence, spirituality, love, depression and more. Might this next album see the band stepping away from this first-person focus, and sharing their thoughts more broadly on the state of the world?
It's possible, of course, that ‘People Hatin’ will be a standalone track dedicated to the way in which society has been behaving of late, and the rest of the project will be more personal and introspective. But the message they are sending out by dropping this one first undoubtedly suggests there will be more of the same to come.
With their recent collaboration with Christian troubadours, NEEDTOBREATHE, ‘Momma Loves Me’, staying true to the biblically-rooted, rock-infused vein they have become synonymous with, we think we can expect more of this on their new album.
Either way, we can't to see what The Red Clay Strays have up their sleeves for 2026. Bearing in mind how Made By These Memories consolidated them as one of the most exciting new bands in the country space - earning them the ACM Award for New Duo or Group of the Year - this next record could cement them as future stars.
