The Lumineers are back with their first full-length album since 2022's BRIGHTSIDE, with the folk titans set to release their new record, Automatic, on February 14th, 2025.
The fact that the chart-topping duo are dropping their latest body of work on Valentine's Day feels particularly apt, with the album exploring love, heartbreak and everything in-between.
To celebrate the Automatic announcement, The Lumineers have made the lead single from the highly anticipated project, ‘Same Old Song’, available to stream everywhere immediately. The track has been accompanied by a vibrant, colourful music video.
The uptempo, beat-driven anthem - which, like the rest of the album, was penned by The Lumineers’ Wesley Schultz and Jeremiah Fraites - finds the two artists delivering a classic, energising folk battle-cry that will delight the band's Day One listenership.
Across a stark, imposing instrumental, The Lumineers reflect on feeling out-of-place and stuck in a rut, “I don't know what's wrong with me / I killed the mood so naturally / The guests begin to make me feel alone / Same old song, we sing the same old song”.
In addition to ’Same Old Song’, Automatic will feature never-heard-before offerings from the ‘Ho Hey’ hitmakers, such as ‘You're All I Got’, ’Plasticine’, ‘Keys on the Table’ and more.
It's safe to say it's a great time to be a Lumineers fan, with the duo embarking on an expansive 2025 tour in promotion of Automatic. Wesley Schultz and Jeremiah Fraites will bring their arsenal of evocative earworms across the UK as part of their keenly awaited arena tour in May. The run will feature support from folk prodigy, Michael Marcagi, who worked with Schultz on his recent single, ‘Good Enough’.
Given how infectious ‘Same Old Song’ is, we're keeping our fingers crossed that The Lumineers have plans to treat us to another single or two ahead of the arrival of Automatic next month.
