After dropping a slew of teasers and snippets, The Castellows and Flatland Cavalry have confirmed their keenly awaited new song, ‘Place They Call Home’, arrives on January 24th.
The stirring track, which finds the artists joining forces to emphasise the need to take better care of the planet, serves as the debut collaboration between the Georgia trio and Flatland Cavalry. Excitingly, The Castellows have revealed in their new post that every aspect of this song was contributed by members of the respective bands.
The Castellows have uploaded a new clip of ‘Place They Call Home’ accompanied by an animated set of visuals, which appears to be taken from the forthcoming lyric video.
The Castellows - consisting of three sisters, Lily, Powell and Eleanor Balkcom - have underlined their excitement ahead of the new release, “‘Place They Call Home’ (feat. Flatland Cavalry) is coming out on January 24th! This song means so much to all of us”.
They went on to shed some light on the inspiration behind the track, “All of the writing and instrumentation was done completely by the 9 of us. When we were writing this song we asked ourselves one question; ‘What would our world say to us if it could speak?’”
They concluded with what appears to be a nod to the devastating wildfires currently plaguing Los Angeles, “Given everything that’s happened on our planet lately we think songs like this are so important. Many thanks from Flatland and The Castellows🌎”.
It's undoubtedly an important theme, and one that does not make its way into country music all that often, despite the genre's penchant for stories pivoting around the great outdoors. ‘Place They Call Home’ extends a purple-patch of releases from The Castellows, with the trio expected to announce their debut album in the coming months.
