During a pre-Grammys interview, Shaboozey once again stoked the flames of speculation surrounding a potential collaboration with one of the genre's biggest stars, Morgan Wallen.
While speaking to Billboard's Tetris Kelly and Rania Aniftos on the 2025 Grammy Awards Red Carpet, Shaboozey delved into a range of topics, including outlining his pride at ‘A Bar Song (Tipsy)’ tying Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus’ record for the longest spell atop the Hot 100, touching on his new single, ‘Good News’, and teasing an appearance at the Super Bowl LIX in New Orleans next weekend.
When pressed about the prospect of a link-up with Morgan Wallen by Kelly, Shaboozey responded, “Stuff's coming, man”, before outlining how he's looking forward to hearing Wallen's new album, I'm the Problem, “He shot me a text the other day and it's just good that he's doing good, taking care of himself, putting out some new music that I feel like the world's excited and ready for as well”.
Tetris Kelly and Shaboozey previously discussed a potential duet with the ‘Last Night’ hitmaker during December's Billboard Music Awards, with Shaboozey confirming Morgan Wallen almost featured on his lauded 2024 album, Where I've Been, Isn't Where I'm Going. Earlier in the year, Shaboozey shared a missed FaceTime call with Wallen on X (formerly Twitter), sparking the first rumours about a collaboration.
Given the fact that Morgan Wallen and Shaboozey are two modern-day chart titans, having dominated the Billboard Hot 100 in recent years, if they do end up joining forces for a blockbuster collaboration, it would surely be a prime candidate to hit No. 1.
Both Morgan Wallen and Shaboozey enjoy blurring the lines between genres, with Wallen regularly introducing trap-inspired elements into his sound, while Shaboozey went as far as interpolating J-Kwon's 2004 club anthem, ‘Tipsy’ for ‘A Bar Song (Tipsy)’. We have no doubt that their shared penchant for experimenting in this way would mean any collaboration would be an infectious, forward-thinking earworm.
Elsewhere during his 2025 Grammys interview, which took place shortly before his live-wire rendition of ‘A Bar Song (Tipsy)’ at the ceremony, Shaboozey reflected on a whirlwind 12 months, “It's amazing...it's been a crazy year...I just had an idea in my head and I was allowed to manifest it with my producers, and look at all the things that have happened since then. So any way it goes, man, I feel like a winner”.
Interestingly, the Virginia maverick also hinted that he'll be making an unexpected appearance during the Super Bowl LIX next weekend, “I can't really speak but I will be in New Orleans and I will be celebrating with the team...yet to be announced”.
Last week, Shaboozey was unveiled as the star of the new NERDS Gummy Clusters advertisement, which will be airing during the Super Bowl LIX on February 9th. In the lead-up to that announcement, Shaboozey suggested that he has a collaboration with a “New Orleans legend”, implying all will become clear during this year's Super Bowl, so perhaps he's gearing up for a momentous surprise set.
When speaking with Kelly and Aniftos before the 2025 Grammy Awards, Shaboozey also emphasised how he's looking forward to his next musical era, “I'm so excited about it, I feel like I'm now coming into my own, so this is just an extra treat on top of everything I've done so far in my career. I can't wait to keep it going”.
Despite not winning his first Grammy, Shaboozey expressed his delight at gaining so many nominations, included coveted nods for two of the ‘Big Four’ categories, Song of the Year and Best New Artist, “It's amazing, honestly, to be in the Big Four after just one year of really figuring out the type of music I wanted to make, the sound I wanted to give, the type of songs I wanted to write - it's amazing. Honestly, I just hope that I keep coming and this isn't the only year I get to do this”.
Following the celebrated release of ‘Good News’ late last year, it looks like Shaboozey has major plans for 2025 to continue the momentum built by his break-out smash hit.
