Shaboozey provided a powerhouse half-time performance during the Detroit Lions’ hard-fought Thanksgiving game victory over the Chicago Bears at their home stadium, Ford Field.
Taking to the stage donning a vibrant blue Lions jacket and his trademark jeans, Shaboozey opened his rip-roaring medley with a brooding, rousing rendition of ‘Last Of My Kind’, before the country prodigy segued seamlessly into another stand-out from his 2024 album, Where I've Been, Isn't Where I'm Going, ‘Highway’.
Throughout these opening two songs, Shaboozey appeared laser-focussed on maintaining his composure and putting on a sleek show. But as soon as the infectious instrumental to Shaboozey's 19-week monster hit, ‘A Bar Song (Tipsy)’, reverberated across the stadium speakers, Ford Field erupted into full-blown party mode.
Shaboozey mirrored this energy and was more relaxed as he kicked off the track everyone had been waiting for, with the ‘Drink Don't Need No Mix’ singer-songwriter walking confidently amidst the Lions cheerleaders while rattling through the earworm anthem.
Shaboozey euphorically bellowed out ‘Detroit!’ at various points during the set, and the show was pervaded by a familial ambience, with the packed-out crowd fully behind him all the way.
Given how the Virginia hitmaker commanded the stage in front of the 65,000-strong audience, it surely won't be long before Shaboozey is headlining stadiums across the US.
In 2025, Shaboozey embarks on his first ever international run, with fans being treated to the first taste of his forthcoming Where I've Been, Isn't Where I'm Going follow-up earlier in November, ‘Good News’. Fans are hoping Shaboozey has another slew of singles lined up in the weeks to come, before dropping his hotly anticipated new album.
