Nerds Candy has recruited country prodigy Shaboozey to star in their blockbuster Super Bowl LIX advert, with the company sharing a new snippet of the forthcoming visuals.
They find the ‘A Bar Song (Tipsy)’ hitmaker sat on-set, before reaching for a bag of Nerds Gummy Clusters, which prompts a pink creature to jump up onto his trusty acoustic guitar.
The full advertising campaign, which is themed around the sweets’ ability to Unleash Your Senses, will air during the third quarter of the Super Bowl on February 9th between the Philadelphia Eagles and the reigning champions, the Kansas City Chiefs.
Aptly, Shaboozey's addictive fusion of Hip Hop and Country sounds throughout his stellar discography seemingly mirrors Nerds’ own combination of crunchy and gummy textures.
In an interview with Life & Style ahead of his appearance in the Super Bowl LIX advert, Shaboozey has excitingly teased new music on the horizon, including a collaboration with a “New Orleans legend”. The ‘Last Of My Kind’ crooner has hinted, “As an artist, you have to keep creating. It’s like what drives you. It’s what keeps you going. So, there’s definitely some new music coming for sure”, before encouraging fans to “stay tuned during the Super Bowl just to hear what we got coming”.
With the Super Bowl LIX taking place in New Orleans, Louisiana, it appears Shaboozey is gearing up to unveil this star-studded collaboration during the Eagles and Chiefs game - perhaps even through the Nerds Gummy Clusters third quarter advert.
It's unclear at this point who the “New Orleans legend” is, but given Shaboozey's penchant for genre-blurring, it could potentially be Louisiana rap legend, Lil Wayne, who was previously believed to be the leading candidate to deliver the Super Bowl LIX half-time show, before Kendrick Lamar was announced.
In a 2024 interview, Shaboozey paid tribute to Lil Wayne's willingness to explore new genres, epitomised on his rock-tinged Rebirth album, “It's kind of crazy how eclectic Wayne was, like he was always just trying to get into different pockets”.
Regardless of who Shaboozey's latest collaborator is, the Super Bowl adverts will again be events in themselves, in-between what's sure to be a fiercely contested match-up.
