Sabrina Carpenter treated her Austin City Limits crowd to a surprise cameo from country legend Shania Twain, with the duo joining forces for ‘That Don't Impress Me Much’.
It marks the second time the chart-toppers have teamed up, with Shania emerging during Sabrina's Nonsense Netflix Christmas Special last year for a cover of ’Santa Baby’.
Their chemistry and friendship radiated endearingly throughout this latest performance in Austin, and has us longing for the day Sabrina and Shania hit the studio together.
Shania Twain remains one of the most impactful figures of the past twenty years or so, with a who's who of contemporary pop figureheads such as Harry Styles, Post Malone and Rihanna all citing the ‘Man! I Feel Like a Woman!’ icon as a key influence.
With Sabrina Carpenter dropping her lauded Man's Best Friend album at the end of August and linking up with Taylor Swift as the only feature on the latter's brand new The Life of a Showgirl album, we're hoping the ‘Manchild’ hitmaker will extend Man's Best Friend in the coming weeks or months and add in a Shania Twain feature.
Sabrina did something similar with her previous record, Short n’ Sweet, around six months after the original project's release, and included a star-studded duet with Dolly Parton. They reimagined one of the stand-outs from the album, ‘Please Please Please’.
With Shania Twain seamlessly blurring the lines between country and pop, we can picture the Canadian titan on an array of tracks from Sabrina Carpenter's Man's Best Friend.
If we had to pick, though, we'd love to hear Shania on ‘Manchild’, given how it embodies the playful yet defiant ambience that Shania has laced into so many of her anthems.
Shania Twain has confirmed she's working on her eagerly anticipated follow-up album to her celebrated, pop-infused Queen of Me project, which arrived back in 2023 - and we're sincerely hoping we get a taste of this new music before the year is out.
