After going through a somewhat quiet period a couple of years ago, where loyal fans had to make do with the occasional single or EP, Riley Green is certainly making up for lost time.

The Alabama hitmaker has a new album, Don’t Mind If I Do, dropping on October 18th, yet - excitingly - he already seems to have one eye on his next project. Riley Green has taken to Instagram to share an intricate acoustic rendition of an unreleased track, ‘Go Again’, which does not feature on the tracklist for Don’t Mind If I Do.

It’s a steamy offering that continues Riley Green’s hot streak of sensuous tracks, following ‘Worst Way’ and his viral Ella Langley duet, ‘You Look Like You Love Me’. ‘Go Again’ adopts a similarly stripped-back, intimate feel to Riley’s second Ella Langley collaboration - and the title-track for the new album - ‘Don’t Mind If I Do’.

Sat in front of a shelf full of whiskey and donning his trusty ball-cap, Riley Green begins by recalling how he went too hard on the red wine the previous night, before toasting the impassioned evening he enjoyed (“Last night’s red wine had my my head hurtin’ / Didn’t sleep a wink all night, but somehow girl you still look perfect”).

Sadly, in the sobering glare of the morning sun, it’s now time for his lover to leave, but Riley Green - in his trademark cool, laid-back manner - underlines that it doesn’t have to be this way (“I guess we knew that you’d be leaving / One night with you ain’t near enough what I’m needing / You climb in that cab get yourself right back to LA / Or we can shut the blinds go back to work, stay in this damn bed all day”).

Riley Green concludes with the titular lyric, playfully placing the ball in his lover's court (“You can leave me a memory, it can be the end / Or we can go again / Yeah, we can go again”).

Followers are already calling for Riley Green to give us some indication as to a release date for ‘Go Again’, but it seems we won’t be hearing the full studio version of this enchanting track until after Riley has dropped his new album on October 18th. It brings to mind the ‘Damn Good Day to Leave’ hitmaker’s decision to tease ‘Jesus Saves’, which went on to become a massive fan-favourite, while the dust was still settling from his sophomore 2023 full-length album, Ain’t My Last Rodeo.

Rest assured Riley Green doesn’t take too much notice of strict rollout schedules and label embargoes - and we’re certainly not complaining, as it means we're treated to more fantastic music from the ‘Different ‘Round Here’ crooner. Hopefully, once Don’t Mind If I Do is out, it won’t be long before Riley and his team decide it’s time to ‘Go Again’ with what could be his fourth project in less than two years.
