Restless Road stormed onto the BBC Radio 2 Indigo stage on the first day of C2C Festival 2024, delivering a high-energy set packed with fan-favourites and crowd-pleasing covers.
The Tennessee trio were greeted with a wave of cheers as they sauntered onto the stage;. It was clear many attendees attended their show last year - also in support of Kane Brown - singing along to every word as they rattled through the introductory songs.
Restless Road - comprising Zach Beeken, Garrett Nichols and Colton Pack - are renowned for their faultless three-part harmonies, around which each track pivots. These were on full display throughout the set, with the most evocative moments coming when the accompaniment was stripped away entirely and the trio performed a cappella.
Throughout the infectious openers, ‘Bar Friends’ and ‘Sundown Somewhere’, their harmonies accentuated the warmth and geniality of each song, while the wistful ‘Go Get Her’ served as another highlight of the early afternoon performance.
The audience were treated to a rapid-fire medley of covers halfway through the set, with Restless Road rattling through Big & Rich's ‘Save a Horse (Ride a Cowboy)’, Jason Aldean's ‘She's Country’, Little Big Town's ‘Boondocks’ and Luke Combs’ hell-raising anthem, ‘Beer Never Broke My Heart’. The latter received the most fervent response from the crowd, with the band dialling up the intensity of their intricately layered vocals to inject a new fizz of electricity through the crowd.
This momentum continued through ‘Last Rodeo’, the title-track from the band's 2023 debut album - a galvanising shot of sonic caffeine, it was the perfect set closer. The three artists left the stage with a heartfelt promise to fans that - thankfully - they won't have to wait too long before they see them this side of the pond again.
