After Dolly Parton jokingly referenced the AI images of Reba McEntire standing at her death bed, Reba has taken to Instagram to share a light-hearted response to her friend.
The ‘Trailblazer’ hitmaker speaks to the camera as she addresses the fake, AI-generated pictures of Dolly and Reba together and of the latter being pregnant, “You tell them, Dolly - that AI mess has got us doing all kind of crazy things. You're out there dying, I'm out here having a baby. Well, both of us know you're too young and I'm too old for any of that kind of nonsense! But you better know I'm praying for you. I love you with all my heart, and I can't wait to see you soon. Love you”.
It comes after Dolly was forced to release a video message dispelling rumours that her health condition was more severe than initially assumed, with the ‘9 to 5’ icon joking, “I wanted you to know that I'm not dying!”, before adding, “Did you see that AI picture of Reba and me - oh, Lordy! I mean, they had Reba at my death bed, and we both looked like we needed to be buried...! And I thought, ‘Oh my Lord, if I was really dying, I don't think Reba would be the one at my deathbed - she might come visit me earlier...!’ But anyway, there's just a lot of rumours flying around. And I figured if you heard it from me, you'd know that I was okay”.
The duo have enjoyed a heartwarming friendship over the years, with Dolly and Reba cementing themselves as two greats in the country pantheon. They've joined forces on a number of occasions, most notably for the stellar 1993 duet, ‘Does He Love You?’
Dolly's original statement came after her sister, Freida, sparked concerns when she shared a Facebook post asking fans to pray for her. Dolly announced that she'd be postponing her 2025 Vegas shows due to health issues requiring “a few procedures”.
However, Dolly's UK manager, Olly Rowland, reassured fans that the whole matter had been “blown out of proportion”, and that the country legend was simply having treatment for kidney stones. Freida subsequently apologised for worrying fans, explaining that she only posted asking for fans to keep Dolly in their prayers “because I believe so strongly in the power of prayer”. Dolly's Las Vegas shows at The Colosseum at Caesar's Palace will now take place in September 2026.
