As the anticipation ramps up ahead of his Saturday Night Live performances tomorrow (Saturday, March 29th), Morgan Wallen has appeared in an amusing promo video alongside the show's host and Anora star, Mikey Madison, and comedian, Chloe Fineman.

The SNL promo sketches are always a little awkward, with the musical guests in particular often struggling when thrown into the scripted banter. As a result, understandably, Wallen doesn't get too involved in the chit-chat, simply offering a quip here and there.

For instance, in the first clip, Mikey Madison and Chloe Fineman pay homage to the beauty of New York this time of year. Fineman exaggeratedly gushes, “Springtime in New York - don't you just love it!” before Madison agrees, “I know, birds are chirping, bees are flying...” Hilariously, Morgan Wallen highlights that he'd much rather be out in the sticks than in the Big Apple, adding, “...Rats are biting”.

Then, Chloe Fineman jokes that she's drunk, with Mikey Madison sharing, “Me too”. Wallen then mutters, “I wish I was”, with this seemingly being a light-hearted call-back to the fact that the Sneedville megastar's first SNL appearance in 2020 was postponed, after he was filmed drinking in a college bar and breaking COVID protocols. When he was asked back a few months later, the ‘Thought You Should Know’ singer-songwriter featured in a skit poking fun at the incident.

Later in the newly shared SNL promo video, when Chloe Fineman praises Mikey Madison's Oscar-winning performance in Anora, Madison returns the compliment by toasting Fineman's impressions. She asks her if she'd like to try impersonating Ani - Madison's character in the film - before Fineman proceeds to put on a British accent and imitate Annie from the eponymous musical, prompting Madison to sigh, “You haven't seen it, have you”. When she expectantly turns to Morgan Wallen and asks, “Would you like to try?” he bluntly replies, “Er...no”.

In the last iteration of the SNL introduction, with the trio testing out a few different versions, Chloe Fineman attempts to mimic Mikey Madison's erotic dancing from Anora, with Madison then joining in, before Morgan Wallen jests, “I think I...like it?”

It's all playful and jovial, but it's safe to say country fans tuning in tomorrow will be more interested in seeing which songs from his new album, I'm the Problem, Morgan Wallen performs, rather than the sketches. We imagine he'll play one of the tracks he dropped last week, ‘Just in Case’ and ‘I'm a Little Crazy’, with the ‘Love Somebody’ crooner potentially - and hopefully - using the platform to debut one we've never heard before, too. Wallen's I'm the Problem arrives on Friday, May 16th.
