What a tribute this is going to be.
Post Malone will join Slash of Guns N’ Roses and Chad Smith of Red Hot Chili Peppers to pay tribute to the one and only Ozzy Osbourne at the 68th Annual Grammy Awards.
The rapper-turned-country star will join the rock supergroup, completed by Slash's G'n'R bandmate Duff McKagen and major producer Andrew Watt, to pay tribute to the late 'Prince of Darkness', during the In Memoriam Segment of the Awards Ceremony on February 1, 2026.
Osbourne passed away in July last year aged 76 from a reported heart attack. He was perhaps best known as frontman of legendary rock and metal group Black Sabbath, while also enjoying a successful solo career under his own name.
Later in life, Osborne and his family were credited as some of the originators of reality television, with the launch of their revolutionary, day-in-the-life program, The Osbornes.
Now, the Grammys will pay tribute to the legendary singer with a one-time performance from this illustrious supergroup. It's not the first time Post has performed in honour of a music legend; during the 50th anniversary show of Saturday Night Live, the revered 90s rock group Nirvana reformed, with Post Malone joining them to take on the vocal duties in tribute to their frontman, Kurt Cobain.
This came five years after Post had performed a Nirvana Tribute lockdown Livestream to raise funds for the United Nation's Covid-19 Reponse Fund for the World Health Organisation. Filmed from home, the performance featured Blink 182's drummer Travis Barker and led to a special vinyl release of the recording for Record Store Day in 2025.
While In Memoriam's can sometimes struggle to find the right tone and timing to pay tribute to a lost icon, the GRAMMYs approach to performances do feel like a fitting way for fellow artists and industry members alike to celebrate a beloved artist.
I feel Post has the creditability and talent to actually pull this off - whichever song or medley of songs they choose to play. With such a wealth of quality behind him, I imagine Post will once again show just how much range he has, just as he did before entering the country sphere.
The tribute comes in what looks set to be a busy year for New York Native. The 'Pour Me A Drink' singer has stated through livestreams recently that he's not only working on one, but two albums, with hopes to release both in 2026.
Whether the albums will both be country-coded we are yet to see, but there are suggestions that one record could perhaps be a completely solo effort, while the other would be more of a collaborative effort, much like Post's 2024 country debut, F-1 Trillion.
