Post Malone has been spotted in the studio, seemingly working on new music alongside his guitarist, Brent Mason, as the anticipation builds for Post's F-1Trillion follow-up album.
Brent Mason played guitar on a number of stand-outs from that stellar project, including Post Malone's feel-good, chart-topping Blake Shelton collaboration, ‘Pour Me a Drink’.
It's not yet clear when the ‘I Had Some Help’ hitmaker is planning on releasing his next project - or, in fact, whether it will be a country record, or a return to his trap-leaning sound.
Post Malone hasn't confirmed any details about his next album, but we strongly believe it will be another country project. Last year, Chandler Walters - who was a key figure in the F-1Trillion writing sessions - shared with Holler that he thinks Post intends to remain in the genre. When asked if he reckons we can expect more country music from Post, Walters excitingly stressed, “Absolutely. I look forward to making many more records with him. I think he's in the same mindset, too”.
The fact that Post Malone continues to immerse himself in the Nashville scene, with Post performing at the Opry 100 celebration, for instance, certainly suggests he's in this for the long-haul. His friend, Blake Shelton, expressed similar sentiments to Chandler Walters during an interview on The Pat McAfee Show last year.
Shelton outlined, “I know that he's made...all the different music that he's made along the way, but I feel like country is where his heart is at, and you can tell it when you're around him”.
Even Post Malone's aesthetic comes across as inherently country nowadays, with the bearded crooner looking more and more like Colter Wall with each new photograph.
There's no clear roadmap for his next album just yet, but with Post Malone returning to the studio, we'll be keeping our fingers crossed his F-1Trillion follow-up is on the horizon.
Whatever sub-genre the trailblazing New York native tries his hand at, he seems to succeed, as she showcased during his electric Nirvana tribute in February. Even so, we'll be holding out hope he delivers another top-shelf country album, with Post Malone's debut foray into the genre one of the stand-out records of 2024.
