Post Malone kicked off the 2024 Super Bowl with a stunning, steel-drenched rendition of ‘America, The Beautiful’.
The ‘Congratulations’ hitmaker was greeted by a chorus of cheers as he stepped up to the microphone on the Allegiant Stadium pitch in Paradise, Nevada, with Post Malone endearingly admitting beforehand that he was feeling incredibly nervous.
However, as he launched into the patriotic anthem, it was clear he had nothing to worry about, with the bearded crooner delivering a movingly intricate and countrified rendition.
Donning a bolo and a brown jacket, Posty plucked intently away at his acoustic guitar throughout the stirring performance, with his take on ‘America, The Beautiful’ also featuring the distinctive cry of steel accompanying his now-trademark vibrato.
The New York native gave each note room to breathe, with the signature quiver that Posty infuses into his vocals adding a sense of vulnerability and delicacy to the performance.
It once again showcased the versatility Post Malone possesses. Earlier in the week, Posty earned the first ever Double-Diamond certification for his uptempo, Swae Lee-assisted chart-topper, ‘Sunflower’ - a track that takes on an entirely different feel to his take on ’America, The Beautiful’ and his Hip Hop-inspired material.
Posty's next left-turn is set to come later this year, with the genre-blending maverick currently working on his debut country album, which is expected to feature Morgan Wallen, HARDY and more. In 2023, Post Malone released his first country single, ‘Pick-Up Man‘ with the late great Joe Diffie, which appears on HIXTAPE Vol. 3. If Post Malone's stellar version of ‘America, The Beautiful’ is anything to go by, it's safe to say we have lots to look forward to on his first full-length country album.
Post Malone isn't the only mainstream artist venturing into Music City in 2024, with Beyoncé announcing a country-leaning new project, Renaissance Act II, during the 2024 Super Bowl, and releasing the two lead singles straight after. In January, Lana Del Rey unveiled her first country record, Lasso, which is set to drop in September.
