Update: Parker McCollum has now confirmed he will be releasing the single 'What Kinda Man' on September 13.

Something big is on the way from Parker McCollum. What that is exactly, we're not yet sure, but it seems the 'Handle On You' star is hinting at new music, set to arrive this month.

With a video recently posted to his social media, McCollum can be seen in what appears to be a recording studio. "I could chase that or...," he says to someone off-camera, seemingly asking for their advice. The faceless voice responds with, "Man, I would do whatever you want to do."

"I don't know. I want to do them all," the artist replies before the footage flashes to him laying down a track.

The post is simply captioned with "9.13," slating the arrival of this unknown project for next Friday (Sept. 13).

Back in May 2024, the artist confirmed his fifth studio album, the follow-up to 2023's Never Enough, was “half way done” in a post on X (formerly Twitter). He confidently added that he would “put these songs up against anything I’ve ever written”.

Along the way, the artist has teased unreleased songs, such as ‘Big Ol’ Fancy House’, ‘I Don't Want To Be A Cowboy Tonight’ and ‘As Far As I Can Tell’, and dropped hints about forthcoming material, the most telling one having arrived in late July.

Once again taking to social media, the hitmaker shared several stills of himself looking pensive in a studio. “Welcome back Kid,” the cation read, likely as a reference to his 2015 debut album, The Limestone Kid, and perhaps a glimpse into what this next chapter brings as the star potentially finds a way back to his roots.

“The records I put out when I was independent were rawer and not as pretty-sounding, and I like that," McCollum shared with Holler earlier this year, remarking on his original sound. "But at the same time, I wanted the big clean record. That's what my heroes have, what George Strait and John Mayer have. Even so, some days, I want to give a song more of that acoustic, stripped-back feel. Other days, I want every instrument and every bit of production I can get on it. So I try to walk that line”.

Whether it be an all out departure from his recent sound or just a nod to his beginnings, it seems we'll soon find out what this new music holds.
