Noah Kahan has shared a new clip of the studio version of his long-teased unreleased song, ‘Doors’, with fans hoping this means the track will be the next single from his new album.

The Vermont native is currently gearing up to release The Great Divide, his eagerly anticipated follow-up to Stick Season (Forever). The project arrives on April 24th, 2026.

So far, Kahan has treated us to two singles from the album, the rousing title-track and the haunting, ethereal ‘Porch Light’. The full 17-song tracklist is yet to be officially unveiled, but given the fact that the ‘Northern Attitude’ singer-songwriter has performed ‘Doors’ on a number of occasions in recent years, and now with this new teaser, we think it's safe to assume the track features on The Great Divide.

We're wondering if Kahan's latest post is a clue that he'll be dropping ‘Doors’ as the final single ahead of the full album. It serves as a visceral reflection on insecurities in a new relationship, with the protagonist admitting they've been burned before.

Across a galvanising, uptempo instrumental, which feels cut from the cloth of Kahan's earlier material like I Was / I Am and Busyhead, Kahan achingly croons, “Have you ever stared directly at the Sun? / Have you ever shared some closeness, so exposed, to have it spit back by someone? / So, forgive me if I jump / At the rattle of your keys, “Oh, are you leaving?”, “No, babe, I'm just waking up””.

Kahan had a busy evening, it seems, with the folk titan also taking to X (formerly Twitter) to shed some light on what listeners can expect from his fourth studio album.

Kahan joked, “What if the album just sucks so bad lol would be sad for me but lowkey funny considering the build up”, with one fan playfully responding, “The previous one sucked as well and that seemed to be well received”. Kahan offered a hilarious, tongue-in-cheek reply, “I guess that’s a good way to look at it :) xoxo”.

He confirmed he'd be sharing the deeper meanings behind all the songs on the album, much like he did with Stick Season, to clarify the story behind each track, “So many of the songs on the new record are connected to each other and to characters from stick season and cape Elizabeth so can’t wait to tell you how they all tie in”.

Either way, The Great Divide is one of the most hotly anticipated releases of the year, with Kahan ensuring the excitement remains sky-high through his singles and teasers so far.
