Morgan Wallen's latest single, ’Smile’, has surged to No. 4 on the Billboard Hot 100. The evocative new song debuted at No. 27 last week, despite only having three days of tracking.
After its first full tracking period, the haunting ballad has leapt into the Top Five of the prestigious all-genre chart, trailing Billie Eilish's ‘Birds Of a Feather’ (No. 3), Shaboozey's ’A Bar Song (Tipsy)’ (No. 2) and Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars’ ’Die with a Smile’ (No. 1).
Once again, country music enjoys a strong presence on the ranking, with Post Malone and Morgan Wallen's titanic 2024 collaboration, ’I Had Some Help’, slotting in at No. 9.
Shaboozey is still vying for the record for the all-time longest spell at No. 1, with his infectious smash, ’A Bar Song (Tipsy)’, currently tied with another country crossover, Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus’ ’Old Town Road’, on a staggering 19 weeks.
With the ‘Drink Don't Need No Mix’ singer-songwriter still posting impressive numbers and holding his own at No. 2, it's a distinct possibility Shaboozey could set a new Billboard Hot 100 record in the coming weeks, with ‘A Bar Song (Tipsy)’ needing to usurp Lady Gaga and Bruno Mars’ blockbuster link-up, ‘Die with a Smile’.
Morgan Wallen's Hot 100 success maintains the Sneedville megastar's reputation as one of the dominant forces on the Billboard charts. Just last week, the ‘Love Somebody’ hitmaker's 2021 opus, Dangerous, was crowned the Top Billboard 200 Album of the 21st Century. Wallen was named at No. 13 on the Top Artists list.
Morgan Wallen is currently hard at work on his eagerly anticipated follow-up to 2023's One Thing At A Time, with the ‘Last Night’ chart-topper sharing a new photo to Instagram this week confirming he's been spending plenty of time in the studio of late. Wallen's next project is expected to include the previously shared singles, ‘Lies, Lies, Lies’, ’Love Somebody’ and ‘Smile’. We suspect the album may be called Dark Til Daylight, due to a potential clue in the official ‘Smile’ music video.
