A book, a new vinyl variant...or a deluxe?
The whereabouts of Morgan Wallen's heartfelt letter from his father has been a mystery ever since the Sneedville megastar first referenced it during his May interview with Apple Music's Kelleigh Bannen, ahead of the release of his 2025 album, I'm the Problem.
The letter was expected to be included in one of the vinyl variants, but once these started arriving, fans realised that none of these featured any words from Wallen's father.
It's an enigma that has left aficionados questioning whether it's set to be released as part of a forthcoming deluxe version of I'm the Problem, perhaps featuring the keenly awaited extended rendition of ‘Interlude’ and the long-rumoured Drake link-up.
The fate of this letter and a potential deluxe is yet to be resolved, but thankfully, it looks like we're one step closer to a resolution. Club Wallen, the official Instagram fan-page for the ‘Last Night’ chart-topper, has shared the clip of Wallen's conversation with Bannen in which he discusses the letter from his father, along with the tantalising caption, “So many questions about *the* letter from @morganwallen’s dad…”, before confirming, “tomorrow we’ll tell you where to find it”.
It seems we'll finally get to find out where we can read this letter, and we're keeping our fingers crossed it'll be part of a deluxe album, or perhaps a new vinyl variant. In the interview clip, Wallen implies the letter is formatted in a “book” of some sort, so maybe we'll be getting a new collectible book to go along with the album.
In the interview, the ‘Love Somebody’ singer-songwriter fondly reflects on his close relationship with his father, “I knew he was gonna do it, but I mean, I didn't give him any direction on what to say or anything like that...He probably was caught off guard by me even asking him to do something [like that]. I've never had a book like this or anything like that for an album release, so this was something new for all of us. But you know, he has a preacher background and stuff, so he knows how to write a little bit, and he did it better than I even thought he would”.
Wallen goes on to underline that he wasn't necessarily surprised by anything his father said, but it didn't make it any less meaningful, “You know, me and him have been really, really honest and open with each other for the last 13 years, I guess, now. Pretty much as soon as I moved out, that's when our relationship improved dramatically. So, yeah, I think he became more like my friend and advisor at that point”.
Wallen concludes by joking, “Yeah, I was a pretty hard kid to deal with, I ain't gonna lie - especially around high school! So I don't fault him at any point, but we figured it out”.
Fatherhood is a key theme of I'm the Problem, with Wallen delving into his identity as a father to his young son, Indigo Wilder, on ‘Superman’, as well as touching on how this role has influenced and strengthened his relationship with his own dad.
With a sprawling Still the Problem Tour on the books for 2026 and more music seemingly in the tank, we can't wait to find out what Wallen has up his sleeve for today's unveiling...
