During his spellbinding set at London's Roundhouse last night (May 28th), Morgan Wallen stressed just how much he values the relationship he's built with his loyal UK fanbase.
As he reflected on his ascent into a global megastar over the past few years, the ‘Last Night’ chart-topper mused, “We've been trying to make a connection with you guys...This is by no means a measure of all successes, but I think it says a lot...whenever I dropped One Thing At A Time, it debuted at No. 40 over here - and I just dropped I'm the Problem, and thanks to you guys it debuted at No. 1. I really appreciate every single one of y'all, man. I thank you for making me feel welcome in your country, and for having the same kind of love for country music and just music in general, man. It means a lot to me to be able to say what I just said”.
The intimate, one-night-only concert served as a celebration of Wallen's lauded new album, I'm the Problem, which has become his first ever No. 1 record in the UK, as well as surging to the pinnacle of the US’ Billboard 200 and Australia's ARIA chart.
The Sneedville native expressed his gratitude for the UK's support throughout his career, with Wallen underlining his disbelief when he heard that roughly 300,000 people were in the waiting room to try and get tickets to this 3,000-capacity Roundhouse show.
Wallen revealed there were “around 300-something thousand people in the queue trying to get in. That's pretty wild to think about, in and of itself”, before shedding some light on the inspiration for the show, “We've been recording these Shop Sessions and we've done these kinds of acoustic, stripped-down type sessions that we've recorded for a long time now, ever since the Dangerous album”.
He referenced how he wanted the Roundhouse concert to be similar to his 2023 Bridgestone Arena One Thing At A Time release show, but with a more unplugged feel, “For the last album, we did something similar to this, but we did it in a much larger arena. That was cool, but I kind of wanted to take it back to the old days, you know? Pretend like we were playing clubs again. So this is awesome, I know I'm going to enjoy it, I hope you guys do as well. We'll make sure we come back and see y'all next year at some point...in a much bigger way, but this is cool for now. So I appreciate y'all being here...We're mostly singing brand new songs tonight, we'll sing a couple of old ones just so y'all can sing them louder”.
With Morgan Wallen also confirming via his mailing list that he'll be returning in 2026, we're excited to see what the country titan has in store for us, following a stellar run of shows in recent years at London's O2 Arena, BST Hyde Park - and now the Roundhouse.
These regular trips across The Pond have made it clear to UK country fans that Morgan Wallen is keen to build a relationship with them - something that can't be said for all artists in the genre. As a result, they have reciprocated Wallen's dedication by helping to propel the ‘Everything I Love’ singer-songwriter to the top of the UK albums chart.
Elsewhere during his hit-packed London show, Wallen treated his adoring fans to a plethora of stand-outs from I'm the Problem, including the addictive ‘Kick Myself’ and ‘20 Cigarettes’.
We were also fortunate enough to hear the live debut of ‘What I Want’, which soared to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 earlier in the week. Wallen currently holds six of the Top Ten songs on the coveted all-genre chart, with his latest project cementing Tennessee trailblazer's status as one of the biggest names in modern music.
