After playing together in Northern Ireland earlier in the month, Tom Brady and Morgan Wallen have now shared a video of their recent match at Tennessee's Troubadour Golf Club.

During the light-hearted encounter, which saw Wallen earning victory over nine holes, the Sneedville hitmaker reflects on how he started out in the industry, recalling that he almost signed a Southern Gospel recording contract at the age of seven.

The ‘Superman’ singer-songwriter mused, “I started singing in church when I was three years old. My dad was a pastor, so my mom just recognised early on that I had a love for it. So she had me singing when I was three, then when I was five I wanted a violin for Christmas, and then I started learning it”, before revealing, “I mean, hell, I was offered a Southern Gospel record contract when I was seven years old”.

Tom Brady is incredulous as he responds, “Get the fuck out of here”, with Morgan Wallen then expressing his gratitude for his mother's decision to reject the record deal, “My mom was like, ‘Nah, I want him to be a kid’ - thankfully. I really started focussing on baseball mostly, and then by the time I turned 12 I was...playing 100-something games a year, going all over the place playing baseball. I thought that was what I was going to do - but I'm better at music than I am at baseball!”

As for the ‘Last Night’ chart-topper's 2025 North America tour, which kicks off in June with a double-header at Houston's NRG Stadium, Morgan Wallen emphasises that he is keen to start performing a slew of tracks from his new project, I'm the Problem.

Wallen emphasised, “I'm very excited. I wasn't ready until my album was done, obviously, but now that it is done, it's something else to look forward to. I'm looking forward to getting it out and seeing what people like. Hopefully they like all of it”, before touching on how it contains “three different styles or subdivisions of country”.

He then outlined how he was conscious not to over-pack his touring schedule, “If you count [Sand in My Boots Festival], [there are] 21 [dates]...So it's a lot of year for me. I did that on purpose. I mean...We've been playing a lot for the past few years. Last year we did probably around 50, and the year before that, we did about 90-something”.

Elsewhere during the insightful conversation, which took place as part of Brady's Last Week video series, Morgan Wallen joked about his guitar playing abilities, before paying homage to his band, “I'm a mediocre guitar player, but my guys who play lead guitar for me...I mean, one of my main guitar players that started with me, he was 18 when he started with my band and he was already an expert”.

Fascinatingly, Wallen went on to shed some light on the creative process he used for I'm the Problem, “Usually, we won't even start a song unless we already have the full concept and the payoff hook done at the beginning, and then we'll write. We'll start at the first verse to write towards that hook...There are a couple of songs on this album where I had an idea, and I was like, I don't know what song's gonna be called. I don't even know anything other than I have this idea. And so we started from the top with no hook. So we wrote the first verse and the chorus all the way down until we found a hook. So like, we started [‘Genesis’], ‘There was a day Jack and Jim didn't know me from Adam’. So you just get all of those, you know, Garden of Eden type ideas, and then you just keep going”.

Amusingly, despite typically being victorious in the sports arena, Tom Brady was defeated by Morgan Wallen during the game, with Brady teasingly claiming that Wallen had the home advantage. He concluded, “Disappointed. Came out here, High hopes. Got my ass kicked. Yeah, it's tough. Can't win them all, yeah, you can't win them all. We've won a lot on YouTube. I can take a step back and let one go”.

It's not the first time these two greats have joined forces, with Tom Brady and Mike Tyson teaming up with Morgan Wallen for his pre-show walkout in Las Vegas last year. In addition, before their Northern Ireland golfing trip, Brady paid tribute to Wallen's acoustic rendition of his recent single, ‘Just in Case’, commenting ‘LFGGG’.

Now, Wallen is gearing up for his blockbuster one-night-only album release show at the revered Roundhouse in London on Wednesday, May 28th - and given the fact that the UK is home to an array of stunning golf courses, we're sure the Tennessee native will find some time to hit the links while he's on this side of The Pond.
