Margo Price has a voice fit for the silver screen, something she has more than proven today (Aug. 16) with the release of two new tracks and soundtrack contributions to Netflix's latest addition, the small-town comedy-drama, Downtown Owl.

By way of her 'Shelter Me' and a cover of Elvis Costello's 'Pump It Up,' the film's score is fitted with her ethereal croon and no frills delivery, a style that seems to pair wonderfully with the film's down-and-out humor and themes of self-discovery.

"Y’all, this is so surreal," the artist gushed over the project on social media. "I’m so excited to have two songs produced by the legendary [T Bone Burnett] featured in the brand new film #DowntownOwl playing on Netflix!"

These two tracks, released in conjunction with the film's premiere on Netflix, mark some of the first tastes of new music from the star since the release of her 2023 project, Strays II.

These not-so-country tunes have also arrived at a time when the artist has been strongly hinting at a return to the genre. On her recently launched Substack, ‘Rawdoggin Reality’, the star announced the impending shift in a post, titled "Why I Left Country Music, and Why I'm Coming Back To Kick Its Ass," writing "I know I'm gonna make this next record the way I want to make it, no matter what it takes."

Whatever that means and whatever this new chapter looks like for Price, we're excited for more blockbuster releases from the artist.
