We've all known for the best part of a decade just how powerful Luke Combs’ vocals are, with the ‘Beer Never Broke My Heart’ singer-songwriter able to deliver runs and inject a rasp-infused emotionality that few others artists in country music can rival.
But just in case there were any doubts, Combs has shared a stunning new cover of Teddy Swims’ Billboard Hot 100 hit, ‘Lose Control’, which recently set a new record for the most total weeks spent on the chart, tallying a whopping 92 - and counting.
Thanks to Combs’ weathered, charismatic voice, the North Carolina native injects a sense of gravitas and weight into the track - and we'd love to hear a full studio version.
Luke Combs has paid homage to Teddy Swims in the caption, writing simply, “A little Lose Control by the man @teddyswims”, with Swims responding, “Go !!!” and “Ayyyyyy”.
Now that they know Combs’ is a fan of Swims, listeners are clamouring for the ‘Beautiful Crazy’ hitmaker to join forces with the genre-blending maverick for an original collaboration.
Combs is no stranger to dipping his toes in the R&B and soul sphere, with the ‘Where the Wild Things Are’ crooner teaming up with Jon Bellion for the evocative ‘WHY’ last month. Similarly, Swims frequently expresses his admiration for country music, having collaborated with Thomas Rhett and Luke Bryan in the past.
We'll be keeping our fingers tightly crossed that we - ideally - get a duet from Luke Combs and Teddy Swims in the near future. However, if that doesn't come to fruition, we'll be content with a full studio version of ’Lose Control’ from Combs.
