During his appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, Lewis Capaldi has delved into his return to the stage after a two-year hiatus, his new single, ‘Survive’ and more.

Endearingly, the Scottish singer-songwriter touched on getting the chance to meet country royalty, Dolly Parton, while he was in Nashville for a show earlier in the month.

Capaldi gushed, “I got to meet Dolly. Good golly!...She was great, she was lovely. She was so good”, before joking, “She really struggled to understand what I was saying, I believe...As most people in America do. But she was very polite...She was lovely”.

Capaldi fondly went on, “It was a bit of a dream come true. That's like...that's my sort of meeting. I don't know, that's like meeting the Queen or something. Do you know what I mean? Better, better than meeting the Queen, actually. Yeah, I said it”.

When the ‘Someone You Loved’ hitmaker shared a photo of him grinning alongside Parton, fans started to speculate as to whether the duo might have a blockbuster duet on their hands. As awesome as this would be, it seems it was just a casual meeting.

Elsewhere during his conversation with Jimmy Fallon, Lewis Capaldi movingly reflected on his mental health journey over the past two years. In 2023, he suffered a very public breakdown on-stage at Glastonbury, which exacerbated his Tourrette syndrome.

It led to a two-year spell away from music, with Capaldi making his emotional, full-circle return to the stage at Glastonbury last month during a surprise set. Shortly after, he emerged with Noah Kahan at BST Hyde Park to perform ‘Northern Attitude’.

While chatting to Jimmy Fallon, Lewis Capaldi opened up about the role of therapy in facilitating his comeback, “Therapy has been a big thing for me, growing, getting back to a place where I can come and perform and do this as a job again”.

He touchingly explained how, through a new partnership with BetterHelp, he is providing thousands of people with a month of free therapy each, “We teamed up with BetterHelp, and we're giving away 734,000 hours of free therapy for people who want it”.

Ever the joker, Capaldi modestly teased, “I'm very noble. I'm a very noble man”, before outlining, “I don't know if therapy's for everybody...But if I can let people try it and see if it can do something for them that it did for me is an exciting thing. Shoutout to BetterHelp. You can go to betterhelp.com/lewiscapaldi wherever you are”.

Capaldi's new single, ‘Survive’, is currently the No. 1 single in the UK, with the track earning him the biggest opening week of his career so far. He tours the UK and Ireland in September, before embarking on his Australia and New Zealand run in December.
