Lainey Wilson, Darius Rucker and The Cadillac Three will be the new voices behind ‘Comin’ To Your City’, the much-loved theme song for ESPN's College GameDay show.
The star-studded collaboration is due to be released on Saturday, September 2 to coincide with the eagerly awaited opening weekend of the NCAA football season.
ESPN's College GameDay has blossomed into one of the TV network's flagship sports programmes, with the show being broadcast each Saturday morning during the college football season.
Big & Rich have been singing ‘Comin’ To Your City’ for the past 16 years, with the duo confirming last week they were stepping down from College GameDay duty and passing the torch.
Lainey, Darius and The Cadilac Three have welcomed the beacon with open arms, with each artist emphasising their excitement at getting the chance to record a new version of ’Comin’ To Your City’.
The ‘Watermelon Moonshine’ songsmith underlined, “It means a lot to be the voice of College GameDay. I’ll tell you what, I’ve got some very impressed family members now. When I called them and I told them about this, they were like, ‘Alright, she really doing something now!’”.
Darius shared a similarly excited message, “I’ve watched that opening so many times. I used to sit in my room and go, ‘I've got to write a song so I can do the opening of GameDay. It’s pretty amazing’.
The Cadillac Three shared that ESPN's College GameDay's pre-game show is a staple of their on-tour viewing schedule, “We look forward to it on the bus…it’s always on”.
