As country music fans around the world descended on Nashville for CMA Fest 2024, Koe Wetzel helped get the week underway with an electrifying show at the Whiskey Jam CAA Takeover.

Taking place in the sleek Skydeck on Broadway, fans crammed into the rooftop venue for the free event, which featured an array of fast-emerging prodigies, such as Dylan Marlowe, MacKenzie Porter, Wyatt Flores, Austin Snell and Kashus Culpepper.

Each set sent an additional jolt of energy fizzling through the crowd, as the anticipation continued to swell ahead of Koe Wetzel's headlining performance. Although the lengthy delay would've left some feeling disgruntled, with Koe, it only enhanced the rowdy persona his fans love, and when he eventually emerged on-stage, he was greeted by a cacophony of screams reverberating out into Broadway.

Attendees lapped up all the classics from Koe's extensive catalogue of rock-tinged anthems, but the highlight was undoubtedly his stormy, brooding rendition of his new track, ‘Sweet Dreams’. The Texan brought his signature drawl and charisma to the performance, giving the angsty offering an elevated sense of gravitas.

The grand finale, ‘Something to Talk About’, unsurprisingly received the most vociferous response from the audience. As Koe Wetzel roared out the titular battle-cry - “Nah, there ain't no doubt / That I will give you somethin' to talk about” - it felt like he was sending a defiant warning shot to anyone that's questioned his role in country.

This combative ambience has become a staple at Koe's shows, but given he was performing in Nashville - a city that has sometimes been reluctant to embrace his unique sound - the atmosphere of rebellion was heightened, giving his set an extra edge.

Koe Wetzel's performance was part of the Whiskey Jam CAA Takeover, taking place ahead of the 2024 CMA Fest, which launched today (Thursday, June 6th). As part of the festival, fans can enjoy performances from blockbuster names such as Cody Johnson, Jelly Roll, Lainey Wilson, Thomas Rhett, Parker McCollum, HARDY and more.

Jelly Roll and Ashley McBryde have been unveiled as the hosts for the CMA Fest TV Special, which will air on Tuesday, June 25 at 8/7c on ABC, and will stream on Hulu the next day. For more information on how to watch the CMA Fest TV Special, head here.
