As the dust settles after the conclusion of his groundbreaking Sphere Las Vegas residency, Kenny Chesney has taken to socials to express his gratitude towards fans for paying tribute to his late dog, Da Ruba Girl, by wearing t-shirts honouring her at his shows.

In a new post shared via Instagram, the No Shoes Nation icon has endearingly gushed, “Saw a lot of these shirts in the audience at Sphere in Vegas. Thank you guys for that”.

As part of Chesney's 15-date Sphere Las Vegas residency, the Venetian Resort hosted a special merchandise store, aptly called Kenny Chesney's Surf Shop. Alongside items celebrating the Vegas shows, they sold crimson Da Ruba Girl tees and sweatshirts.

Da Ruba Girl passed away in late 2022, with Kenny Chesney releasing an official studio version of his longstanding fan-favourite song of the same name in honour of her.

Proceeds from the single go towards the Stray Rescue of St. Louis, with Chesney using the song as a means of highlighting the essential work shelters like these carry out in rescuing, caring for and rehoming pets that have been abandoned or lost.

Shortly after her passing, Kenny Chesney reflected on Da Ruba Girl's spirit, paying homage to how she “lived her life never holding anything against anybody. She had an ancient, calming soul. She was honest and authentic, she was a protector... Ruby loved the sun and how it felt on her face. She and I had that in common... I’m going to miss her, especially in the mornings. That’s when she and I really connected. So bye-bye, Ruby. You were a very good girl. We loved you and thank you for teaching us how to love unconditionally. You were one heaven of a dog”.

Kenny Chesney's Da Ruba Girl merchandise is currently out of stock on his online store, but we're hoping they get a fresh batch in the coming weeks. In the meantime, we'll be streaming ‘Da Ruba Girl’ on repeat in honour of the beloved pitbull mix.
