He teased that we’d have some special guest appearances - but it’s safe to say Kenny Chesney has been well and truly spoiling us during his dazzling Sphere residency so far, with star-studded on-stage link-ups with Kelsea Ballerini, Grace Potter and Megan Moroney.
During his latest show at the immersive Sphere in Las Vegas, the No Shoes Nation figurehead brought out his long-time friends and collaborators, Old Dominion, to a sea fervent cheers and screams.
KC and OD have performed together a number of times over the years, with Old Dominion’s frontman, Matt Ramsey, co-writing one of Chesney’s most iconic hits, ‘Save It For a Rainy Day’.
As is always the case at a Kenny Chesney show, this performance was permeated by a welcoming sense of warmth, love and camaraderie, with Chesney introducing ‘Save It For a Rainy Day’ by joking, “For the life of me, I can’t figure out why they didn’t record this song. But I’m not questioning it at all, because it was a really big record for us…!”
Fans were also serenaded by wonderfully carefree and playful ‘I Was On a Boat That Day’ - in many ways, a sibling song to ‘Save It For a Rainy Day’ - with Old Dominion cheekily shrugging off a break-up in favour of a blissful day on the water.
This latest unexpected treat once again cements Kenny Chesney’s 2025 Sphere residency as the place to be for country aficionados this summer, with the anticipation through the roof ahead of Chesney’s follow-up set tonight (Saturday, May 31st).
