Kelsea Ballerini has been holding tight to the finer details of her upcoming album, Patterns, but she recently relinquished its tracklist to fans, giving a glimpse at the music to come.
The 15-track project, set to arrive Oct. 25, will feature previously dropped songs like the dazzlingly intimate 'Sorry Mom' and the tearful Noah Kahan collaboration, 'Cowboys Cry Too'.
Joining these recent offerings will be a string of songs that appear to be just as emotive, tracks with titles like 'Nothing Really Matters', 'We Broke Up' and 'Beg For Your Love' seemingly poised to tug at the heart.
Ballerini briefly hinted at the record's contents in an interview with The Associated Press, explaining, “I think that people probably expect this really happy-go-lucky, love, mushy, gushy record from me. That’s not the case. And I’m really proud of that."
After several years spent navigating life's ups and downs, the artist could take Patterns in many different directions. With mentions of baggage and breakups, the project could explore the aftermath of her divorce from fellow country artist Morgan Evans in 2022, an ending she unpacked on her 2023 album, Rolling Up The Welcome Mat. It could also examine her new love, having found a partner in Outer Banks actor Chase Stokes; or the album could simply tackle the challenges and triumphs that come with finding who you are outside of such relationships.
Whatever the album's contents, the record seems set to be a very personal collection from the bold star. "It would have been easy to, I think, just collect the really beautiful parts of my life that I’ve dusted off and found the last couple of years," she added of the forthcoming release. "But that’s not the fullness of my experience”.
