Kelsea Ballerini Releases Official Music Video for ‘First Rodeo’, Featuring Chase Stokes Cameo

Kelsea Ballerini has unveiled the accompanying visuals for her new song, ‘First Rodeo’, which finds the ‘Peter Pan’ singer-songwriter exploring the excitement and nerves of a new romance.

Kelsea is never afraid of getting vulnerable and candid with fans through her music, and ‘First Rodeo’ epitomises this, with the Tennessee hitmaker delving into the complex, confusing flurry of emotions that accompany the first stages of a fresh relationship.

Taking to socials to share a snippet of the music video shortly after its release, Kelsea revealed she'd decided to give her partner, Outer Banks star Chase Stokes, a sweet cameo in the visuals. The fact that ‘First Rodeo’ was penned about Chase makes this all the more touching, with Kelsea reflecting, “first rodeo is all about embracing fragility, hope, and getting back on the horse. the video is out now, featuring the handsome human who inspired the song and made me love sunsets again”.

‘First Rodeo’ is the final single to arrive ahead of Kelsea Ballerini's keenly anticipated new album, PATTERNS, which drops on October 25th. The infectious track seemingly marks the opening of a quietly optimistic and hopeful chapter in the album's narrative, following the introspection and vulnerability of ‘Sorry Mom’.

The music video brings the sentiment behind ‘First Rodeo’ to life, with shots of Kelsea Ballerini on a funfair ride and a hotel room interspersed with scenes of Kelsea staring wistfully off into the horizon, as she reclines on a sunset-drenched beach. It appears to be the same setting from the eye-catching PATTERNS album artwork.

The visuals capture the free-spirited ambience that pervades the song, with Kelsea Ballerini and her co-writing team - Jessie Jo Dillon, Karen Fairchild, Hillary Lindsey and Alysa Vanderheym - conveying the protagonist's duelling feelings of trepidation and exhilaration through a plethora of evocative, Wild West-themed imagery.

‘First Rodeo’ is already shaping up to be one of the stand-outs from PATTERNS, with the enchanting ode to new love set to be joined on the project by an array of never-heard-before offerings such as ‘Nothing Really Matters’, ‘Beg For Your Love’ and more.
