In celebration of Earth Day 2025, Kacey Musgraves has made her beloved Sounds from the Heart of the Woods available to stream across all platforms for the first time. Earth Day encourages people around the world to come together to promote ways in which we can help to protect and preserve the planet we call home.
The 20-minute body of work was originally released as a Record Store Day Deeper into the Well vinyl exclusive back in October, with the meditative, tranquil offering being billed as a ‘woodland sound experience’ designed to help alleviate stress.
Featuring no lyrics and consisting primarily of an undulating, enchanting acoustic guitar riff and ambient synths, Sounds from the Heart of the Woods serves as the perfect soundtrack to meditation, particularly given its relatively lengthy run-time.
The peaceful project conjures up feelings of lying in a cushioning meadow or resting by the seaside as the ocean lulls to and fro, with the nature-based imagery Musgraves opted for throughout the Deeper Well rollout mirroring this atmosphere perfectly.
Taking to socials today (Tuesday, April 22nd) to announce this special streaming release, Kacey Musgraves advises, “Stay calm this earth day with 20 minutes of meditative woodland sounds now available to stream...link in bio. Happy disassociating!”
It's a refreshingly unusual move to drop a serene 20-minute song of this ilk in the country music space, even though artists outside of the genre such as Jhené Aiko have been exploring the meditation and sound healing worlds for a number of years now.
Kacey Musgraves continues to remind us why she remains one of cosmic country's modern trailblazers, with fans eagerly looking forward to her Deeper into the Well follow-up.
