Jessie Murph is continuing to keep her fans well-fed with new music teasers ahead of the eagerly anticipated arrival of her third studio album, Sex Hysteria, on July 18th.
The prolific ‘Blue Strips’ hitmaker has been sharing a plethora of clips of an unreleased track, titled ‘Donuts’, across TikTok, with fans clamouring for Jessie Murph to drop the uptempo new song ahead of the album. ‘Donuts’ showcases the Alabama native's ability to nimbly blur the lines between genres, with Murph crooning playfully across a trap-infused beat, “I'm just writing songs everybody wanna sing”.
It finds Jessie Murph serving up another tongue-in-cheek reference to rapper Gucci Mane, in the lyric, “Who the man? Who the man? / Who's blowing smoke with Gucci Mane?”
It follows Murph decision to call the lead single from Sex Hysteria ‘Gucci Mane’, as an homage after incorporating her fellow Alabama artist's 2009 hit, ‘Lemonade’, into the song.
Elsewhere on Jessie Murph's socials, fans have been gifted another stellar unreleased snippet, this time of a track seemingly titled, ‘Bad as the Rest’. It's a less light-hearted offering, with Murph reflecting on her feelings of trepidation about a blossoming romance, “I do not love you yet / But I'm ‘bout as close as I can get / Keep one last percent / Close to my chest / Just in case you turn out / Bad as the rest”.
The new track expresses a similar sentiment to that of Morgan Wallen's ‘Just in Case’, with Jessie Murph highlighting her versatility on ‘Bad as the Rest’, eschewing the hip hop backing of ‘Donuts’ in favour of a more dramatic, almost orchestral arrangement.
After ‘Touch Me Like a Gangster’ dropped earlier in June, marking the third single from Sex Hysteria, we're holding out hope that Jessie Murph will treat us to the full studio versions of ‘Donuts’ or ‘Bad as the Rest’ - or ideally both - in the coming weeks.
