Jessie Murph has taken to socials to share a captivating cover of Morgan Wallen's 2024 single, ‘Lies, Lies, Lies’, leaving fans calling for the duo to team up for a collaboration.
The ‘Love Lies’ singer-songwriter is quickly cementing herself as one of the most exciting new acts to have emerged in the country and R&B intersection in recent months. Murph dropped her highly anticipated new album, That Ain't No Man That's The Devil, in September, with the up-and-coming artist believed to be readying a deluxe version of the project, featuring recently teased tracks such as ‘Sip’ and ‘Blue Strips’.
Given the sincerity and emotional weight Jessie Murph laces into this acoustic rendition of ‘Lies, Lies, Lies’, we'd like to see the Nashville native record a studio version for the deluxe.
Alongside a sparse, noodling guitar, Jessie Murph's distinctive, intricate vocals take centre-stage, with her drawn-in, forlorn delivery accentuating the gravitas and anguish of the lyrics. The track finds the narrator drawing a thin veil across their heartbreak and loneliness, before violently ripping back the curtain and laying their pain bare.
Morgan Wallen clearly approves, with his official TikTok account reposting Jessie Murph's sinuous ‘Lies, Lies, Lies’ cover. Perhaps a remix of the slow-burning offering featuring both Morgan Wallen and Jessie Murph may be on the cards, with both artists undoubtedly aligning on their willingness to blur the lines between genres.
‘Lies, Lies, Lies’ arrived back in early July, following a number of teasers from Morgan Wallen and a live version released as part of his Spring Abbey Road Sessions project. It's due to appear on the Sneedville megastar's One Night At A Time follow-up album, alongside Morgan's latest single, the breezy, long-awaited ‘Love Somebody’.
Jessie Murph recently kicked off her 2024 tour in Tulsa, Oklahoma, with the genre-blending maverick gearing up for a slew of shows across the US, with dates in Louisiana, Arkansas, Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, New York and more before the end of the year.
