After his wife, Bunnie XO, took to social media to ridicule rumours that Jelly Roll's new clean-shaven look was the result of AI, Jelly has returned to Instagram to drop his own hilarious response to all the bizarre speculation about his appearance.
Alongside a selfie of him in the woods without his signature beard, the ‘Need a Favor’ hitmaker has amusingly added the playful, satirical caption, “AI is getting crazy these days”.
Jelly recently revealed that he's lost around 200 pounds since 2022 courtesy of his fitness regime, and then this month, the Nashville native decided to shave off his beard. He admitted that, previously, he'd grown it “to cover up my double-chin”, so the fact that he now felt comfortable getting rid of it is testament to his physical transformation. We're just glad he's feeling good about himself, but sadly, a number of internet trolls have been making fun of his new appearance.
These trolls are thankfully in the minority, however, with a plethora of Jelly's fellow artists taking to the comments to show love to the ‘Son of a Sinner’ singer-songwriter.
Tracy Lawrence, for instance, gushes, “Lookin good brother!!”, while Jessie Jo Dillon simply dons him a “stud”. Bailey Zimmerman opts for an all-caps comment to emphasise his approval, crowning Jelly an “ABSOLUTE DAWGGG”, with Fancy Hagood echoing Zimmerman's sentiments, “Dudeeee you looking fire my dawg!!!”
In the comments section of his recent video expressing his immense gratitude after being nominated for Best Country Album for Beautifully Broken, as well as picking up two nods for his faith-filled collaboration with Brandon Lake, ‘Hard Fought Hallelujah’, an array of other artists have expressed their admiration for Jelly's health journey.
Despite Jelly self-deprecatingly declaring in the caption, “I look like a ninja turtle”, Contemporary Christian Music trailblazer Forrest Frank has commented, “LOOKING GOOD BRO”, while The Red Clay Strays have similarly enthused, “Lookin good man!”
Jelly continues to serve as an inspiration for many through both his music and his philanthropic efforts outside of this, with the ‘Save Me’ crooner standing as a beacon of light for those who are experiencing the struggles he went through when he was younger. Beard or no beard, 200 pounds lost or gained, there's no questioning Jelly's role as an unstoppable force for good in today's country music landscape.
