Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has taken to Instagram to pen a moving tribute to his dog, Hobbs, as the Jumanji star announced that the French Bulldog had sadly passed away.
Hobbs has become a beloved figure for fans of Dwayne Johnson in recent years, with the playful Frenchie often featuring on his social media videos, with Johnson regularly joking about how much he hates walks. During Johnson's 2024 GQ cover shoot, Hobbs stole the show, posing along his Pops for an array of heartwarming photos. Hobbs got his name from Johnson's recurring Fast and Furious character.
Grief is a complex beast, but they say music has the power to express and tap into feelings in a way nothing else can, and Dwayne Johnson has showcased this in his new post, by using George Strait's ‘What's Going On In Your World’ to convey his loss.
With George Strait's ‘What's Going On In Your World’ playing in the background, the Hollywood icon explained why the King of Country's 1989 classic felt particularly pertinent during this difficult period. While Strait croons to an absent lover, Dwayne Johnson has utilised it to portray how he wonders what Hobbs is up to in his afterlife, while Johnson contends with the loneliness of being left behind.
Dwayne Johnson reflected, “RIP 💔 Hobbs..I’ve been numb over this loss, but we’re so grateful for every ounce of pure love he gave our entire family and we’re so grateful he didn’t suffer long as he quietly and bravely left in the night...Lately, there’s been a lot that’s too big to talk about. Lonesome, lonely, heard it’s all the same”.
He touched on the message behind Strait's track, which was penned by David Chamberlain, Royce Porter and Red Steagall, “One of my favorite songs felt appropriate here, as I wonder what’s going on his new world, because I know what it’s like in mine”.
Dwayne Johnson heartbreakingly concluded his tribute, “Not sure how spirits work but come back and visit every once in a while so we can get in trouble and laugh again”.
As anyone who has mourned a pet can attest, you lose a member of your family, with the innocence and youthfulness dogs exude throughout their lives only exacerbating the sense of cruelty at their passing. Nonetheless, as Dwayne Johnson wisely outlined, we should focus on the wonderful moments we were blessed enough to spend with them, rather than feeling cheated out of extra time with them. Fans of Johnson and Hobbs will no doubt be keeping them both in their thoughts.
