This year, we've had Beyoncé, Post Malone, Lana Del Rey, MGK and countless others dipping their toes into the muddy waters of country music. Could Nick Jonas be the next to follow?
The ‘Jealous’ hitmaker has shared a new video across socials of a Nashville recording session with Shay Mooney - from chart-topping country duo, Dan + Shay - Dewain Whitmore Jr and Tommy English, with fans speculating as to what Nick has up his sleeve.
Adding to the intrigue is the fact that Nick Jonas has removed the sound from the video, leaving us in the dark as to what genre or style the new song will draw from.
However, given the fact that the Texas singer-songwriter was in Music City writing with Shay Mooney and Tommy English, with the latter having penned hits for MacKenzie Porter, Kacey Musgraves, Little Big Town and more, it certainly feels as though Nick Jonas is hinting at an impending foray into the country world. Dewain Whitmore Jr has worked with Nick Jonas on a number of previous occasions, as well as helping to craft hits for the likes of Chris Brown, Usher and David Guetta and contributing to Kacey Musgraves’ genre-blending 2021 album, star-crossed.
It wouldn't be the first time Nick has experimented with country music, with The Jonas Brothers linking up with Bailey Zimmerman for the infectious ‘Strong Enough’ in 2023.
At their July tour-stop at Calgary Stampede, the trio covered Post Malone and Morgan Wallen's record-breaking 2024 collaboration, ‘I Had Some Help’, as well as delivering a surprise rendition of Garth Brooks’ iconic anthem, ’Friends in Low Places’.
With The Jonas Brothers reuniting in 2019 for their comeback record, Happiness Begins, and following this up with 2023's The Album, it seems Nick and Joe are now pursuing solo careers as the group continue their world tour, which finds the much-loved band serenading fans with tracks taken from across their five projects.
Joe is currently readying a new album for October 18, called Music For People Who Believe In Love, with the former DNCE frontman dropping the lead single, ‘Work It Out’, last week.
