During his electrifying Category 10 Big Kickoff Party in Nashville this week, Luke Combs treated the packed-out crowd to an array of smash hits - and two brand new offerings.
In addition to treating the audience to two unreleased tracks, the ‘Where the Wild Things Are’ hitmaker offered some words of wisdom to any up-and-coming artists out there.
As he introduced his fourth No. 1, ‘She Got The Best of Me’, which he wrote while he was still living in North Carolina, Luke Combs reflected on his storied journey so far.
Combs mused, “This is my 11th year in town, since I moved here...[from] North Carolina. Man, I've played so many shows there, in the bars there in North Carolina, East Tennessee and North East Georgia, South Carolina...You just never know”.
The ‘Hurricane’ crooner went on, “I know we're in Nashville tonight and I know this is corny, but if you're a musician, and you're playing Broadway and came to the show tonight...I came to shows like this all the time. I've been where you are standing, and I looked up here and I thought, ‘Man, wouldn't it be so incredible to be up there?’ Chase your dreams, man...God, man, if I can do it, anybody can do anything”.
Luke Combs has always been considered one of the most relatable, down-to-earth artists in the modern country pantheon, and this motivational speech reenforces that.
Luke Combs’ heartfelt message arrived in the midst of his captivating set at his Nashville bar, Category 10, which was celebrating its official launch with a special Big Kickoff show. Alongside the duo of unreleased - and at present, untitled - tracks, which will hopefully feature on the North Carolina native's forthcoming album, Combs reeled off a slew of fan-favourites, such as ‘When It Rains It Pours’, ‘The Kind Of Love We Make’ and - of course - ‘Beer Never Broke My Heart’.
