Ingrid Andress has officially broken her silence since her national anthem performance Monday night (July 15) was met with widespread criticism.
After a night away from the comments, the 'More Hearts Than Mine' artist took to social media to address her fumbled display of 'The Star Spangled Banner' during Major League Baseball's annual Home Run Derby. She revealed she was inebriated for the performance.
In her statement, she wrote, "I'm not gonna bullshit y'all, I was drunk last night. I'm checking myself into a facility today to get the help I need. That was not me last night. I apologize to MLB, all the fans, and this country I love so much for that rendition."
"I'll let y'all know how rehab is," she concluded her statement before signing off with an "x" and "o". "I hear it's super fun."
The Monday night performance has since been widely met with criticism online, viewers commenting on footage of the night's mishap with things like "When your Mom lied to you and said you were a great singer...", "Legend has it, she’s still searching for the right key" and saying she sang the "Star Strangled Banner" instead.
Andress was quick to suspend comments on all of her socials shortly after the display, but that hasn't stopped the frenzied jeering from swirling on the internet over the last 24 hours.
